Any questions? Maybe we can
get some answers from the
competitors:
Most amazing trick of con-
test?
Chris Senn: Willy Santos fakie
ollie late shove it.
Chet Thomas: Colin McKay's
backside nosebone 360' over the
hip.
Willy Santos: Chris Senn's 270°
backside lipslide.
Brian Howard: Colin's 360' indy
nosebone revert over the hip.
Jordan's backside ollle tailslide
backside revert.
John Montesst: Perfect 540 ol-
lies on the bank by Willie San-
tos.
Sketchiest trick of contest?
Jordan Richter: Cardiel's runs.
Jeff Taylor: Chet Thomas stay-
ing on an ollie tail grab-to-tail.
Jeb Stewart: Me, doing a Miller
flip into the ramp and landing
on my head.
Thomas Morgan: My whole run
was the sketchiest trick of the
whole contest.
Best run?
Chet Thomas: Matt Beach or
Jordan Richter.
Colin McKay: Jordan.
John Montessi: In the street.
Willy. On the mini.Jordan.
Chris Senn: Willy Santos.
Willy Santos: Chris Senn.
Opposite Page (clockwise from top left):
A backside lipslide on a launch ramp?
Todd Baechle looked at the course differ-
ently and made it pay off with sixth in
street. Jeff Taylor is a madman. He scored
a convincing third in the mini contest and
he rips big ramps, too. Here he spaces a
fastplant-to-fakie on familiar turt, Corvallis,
Oregon. Jordan shows that winning
smile-the only top ten in three categories.
Don't worry kids, he's already pro. To rail,
to tail or straight in, Jordan Richter came to
Atlanta to win. He is not afraid to slam as
long as he gets his turn. Hey, Richter
rhymes with victor. Get the picture? First
place mini. This Page: Brian Howard blew
away all comers with a brilliant barrage of
skating pyrotechnics. When Brian laid down
his cards, there was no disputing his win.
This fakle mute-to-fakie is but a drop in the
bucket of his talent reservoir
Highlights of your run?
Jeff Taylor: Cab tail grab nose grind over
the hip, ollie tail grab nose bone one-
footed revert over the hip.
John Montessi: Fakie nose grind railslide.
Matt Beach: I just had a lot of fun.
Willy Santos: Fakle ollie late shove-its and
staying on those 540 ollies on the bank.
Brian Howard: Backside 50-50 reverts and
ollie-to-nose grind over the hip.
Judging?
Brian Howard: Fair, except for qualifying.
Jeb Stewart: There are so many good
skaters that someone has to get screwed.
Chris Senn: It's fair here. At districts in
Corvallis, guys from the first heat didn't
make it because they were in the first heat.
Matt Beach: Judges favor their friends.
Colin McKay: It's okay, but an unknown can
get burned on a good run.
Chet Thomas: Scores always go up in the last
heat. It's hard to judge.
Jordan Richter: The name game is a factor.
Overall contest series?
Thomas Morgan: This year was weak; they
should plan ahead and send out more infor
mation in advance.
Chris Senn: It depends who's running it.
Steve-O does a pretty good job.
Jeff Taylor: I wish it wasn't held in a park
that cost so much money to skate in.
Jeb Stewart: Pretty good, but the NSA will al-
ways be the NSA.
John Cardiel: Fun park, but they charge too
much to skate.
Brian Howard: It's run pretty well, in general.
There were problems with the skatepark
owner at this contest.
Ramps and street course?
Chel Thomas: It was a good hip-ramp. I'm
sick of spines.
Colin McKay: There should have been more to
the mini-ramp.
John Montesst: It's good, except It's uphill
and the ground is rough.
Chris Senn: One of the best NSA courses.
John Cardiel: Some fun stuff, but the
ground's kind of sketchy.
Eric Kosten: The obstacles were in all the
wrong places.
Jeb Stewart: Fun, but too many transitions.
Brian Howard: The vert ramp could have been
a lot better.
Sean Andrews: The mini-hip's okay. If you
can go over a spine, you can go over a hip.
Improvements for next year's contest?
Jordan Richter Run the event over a week
long period.
Brian Howard: They could have things
worked out a little better.
Colin McKay: Next time the skaters should
judge themselves,
John Montesst: There should be more street-
oriented courses. This one's good, but it
would be better if it were downhill.
Chris Senn: Somehow use more cement.
tighter transitions, and higher handrails.
Should there be contests?
Jeb Stewart: They're fun. I get to see my
friends. But they suck, too. They keep certain
aspects of skating alive.
Jeff Taylor: Yeah, it's fun to skate with all
these rad people.
Willy Santos: There have been contests for a
long time, so I might as well enter them. It's
fun to skate the obstacles.
