victory of the day, Tony
Hawk applied his double-
tailed magic wand to the
ramp. He peppered the lip
with frontside ollie blunts,
Caballerial to-disaster-to-
reverts, ollie blunt-to-tail
grab-to-nose slaps and
overly-flapped tuck knee
inverts. When Tony took to
the air, basics didn't apply.
He felt at home with varial
McTwists, stalefish 360's,
and one-footed fakie ollie
nose grabs-to-revert. The
Hawkman was unstop-
pable. An awards ceremo
ny soon took place with
wreaths of merit, payola,
interviews and cameo pho-
to shoots with the media.
In the evening. I went to
the train station and met
cool skaters from London,
Berlin, Norway, Amster-
dam, Geneva, Frankfurt
and Copenhagen. Skating
was a common bond and
language. As we spoke,
they said they looked for-
ward to traveling to Mün-
ster each summer to meet
new friends, skate new
spots and see a major pro
competition. They had a
drive to see other towns,
skate new terrain and
progress. As we said fare-
well, I felt stoked, glad to
be down with skaters that
lived on the other side of
the globe.
MONDAY, JULY 22nd
9:00 a.m. I met up with
Wade Speyer, Dave Dunn,
Luke Ogden, Salman Agah,
Sluggo and Max Schaaff. I
had previously arranged
with Yves Enderli (the Real
European tour manager) to
travel with them to Ham-
burg and onward to Le
