PRODUCT PATROL
Sometimes, the only way to
clean your head is to get
out of town for awhile.
Things have you down,
chick is bitching, job is
hell. Man, if you only had
some place to go where
there were no pressures and
no problems, like one of
those tanks in Altered
States-just lie in a warm,
dark place and flush your
thoughts...butterflies,
mountains, flowers, fresh
air. Hey, get real. There is
work to be done, places to
go, people to see. The only
time I'll rest is when I'm
dead. As Duane Peters said,
"The day you become con-
tent is the day you might as
well just dig a six-foot hole
and let rigor mortis set in."
Let the Patrol roll.
SLIM-RISK
Molotov, 2530 1st Ave, Minneapolis,
MN 55404
Not too long ago I clued you in to a Mid-
west secret-Molotov Skateboards. Since
that review they have been kind enough to
send me their latest, and to be honest it
looks a lot like the Sargent from New Deal:
same nose and a little bit different tail. The
concave is smooth and thorough, and the
semi-rocker is extremely comfortable. The
Molotov line has many different decks and
if you are the inquiring type, they may
have one for you. Numbers as follows:
32.75" long, 9.75" wide, with the same 6.5"
nose and tail. This is a sweet deck, but
they probably don't stock at your shop, so
buy it direct and everyone will ask you,
"Where did you get that killer board?"
TONY HAWK
Powell-Peralta, 30 S. La Patera Lane,
Goleta, CA 93117
Tony Hawk went all the way with his
new vert deck; there is no going
back-or forward-the front is the back
and vice versa. Tony is smart enough
to know that skating is changing into a
uni-directional sport. This slab is awe-
some. It makes other decks look like
dinosaurs. The nose and the tail both
have 8-hole patterns for the mega-
nose and slight tail or vice versa.
Hawk's top is 33" long, 9.35" wide, with
either 6 or 6.5" of nose and a 6.5" or
7" tail. Get with the program, people.
This is the future. It's here, it's now.
Where are all the dinosaurs?
Next month keep your eyes peeled for some 100% Alva, new
Life stuff, Cockroach wheels and Airwalk shoes. Until then,

VISION ZIPS
Vision, 1395 S. Lyon St., Santa Ana, CA 92705
It seems as though Vision is the last to get on the small wheels
bandwagon. The wheels are called Zips and they are supposedly
101 durometer, which rode more like a 97-a little on the soft side.
The shape is killer-a 54mm by 19mm little white wheel. Hey, if
you get some as a gift, put 'em on backwards and everybody will
think that you are riding Gizmos. I think Vision could make better.
wheels if they weren't so busy trying to keep up with the Joneses.
JOE LOPES VIRUS
Confusion Skates, P.O. Box 27528,
Oakland, CA 94602
What more needs to be said about the leg-
end of Joe Lopes? Well, here is another
chapter to add to the book, the new Joe
Lopes Virus model from Confusion. Confu-
sion is a small company out of Oakland, CA,
with some quality products. While this shape
is a little on the whale side, it was durable and
rideable. This Virus features a mild concave
with a good tail and a smaller nose area. Joe
weighs in at 33.25" long, 10" wide, with either
6" or 6.75" of nose and a 6.5" tail. Hey, if you
crave the whale tail, this is your cue.
SLUGGO BOYCE
Real Skateboards, P.O. Box 881914, San Fran-
cisco, CA 94188-1914
That crazy Canadian Rob "Sluggo"
Boyce's new deck is one more reason
why Real is kicking butt. The plank has a
super functional design. The shape looks.
like most, but when you ride it, that is
where the difference lies. The Slugmeister
is 33" long, 10" wide, with 6.75" of nose
and a 6.5" tail. I sluggest you go down to
the shop and ponder the mysteries of life
while you stand on this one. Hey, what's
with the squirrels and the acorns?
