Of all the pros in the world. I
doubt anyone has had more mod-
els than Christian Hosoi. First, the
Sims Rising Sun, then the ever-
popular Hammerhead. After all
HOSOI
these years, it
is now the
simple, clean
SKT Kultur.
This street
shape is long
and thin with a
fat nose and
no hook tail. It
checks in at
32.75" x 9.75"
with either a 6"
or 6.75" nose,
a comfortable
6.5" tail, and
the advisable
wheelbase is
14". Are you
"kultured"
enough?

New Deal is coming on
strong with some new pros
as well as a unique vertical
laminating process called
the V-Ply that is tough as
well as functional. Paul
made a concave to last; the
"S-4" is two years old and
still state of the art. The new
Sargent deck is here and it
is truly killer. Danny took his
old shape and made it more
square in the nose and the
result is top notch. The

Not too long ago I
said Sims Snakes
sucked. Well, obvi-
ously, times have
changed and the new
Snakes that came my
way represent a
tremendous turn
around. They are fast
and wear evenly. They are 55mm and 98 hard, a combo
that is tough to beat. Hey, Jake likes these Snakes.
Sarge is 32' x 9.75" with 6"
of nose, a 6.5' tail and a
14.25" wheelbase. The next
New Deal is the Ed Temple-
ton plank. Ed's top is a little.
more curved than Sarge's
and it also has vertical lami-
nates that really add to the
durability. They both feature
the lower-center rocker
design for that close-to-the-
ground ride. The Templeton
is 33" x 9.75" with a 7" nose,
a 6.85 tail and a 13.75"
wheelbase. I myself ride the
Siamese model with a
"thermo-plastic alloy" coat-
ing similar to the Santa Cruz
Ever Slick, and it is one of
my favorites.

Blockhead's newest pro model
is the Rick Howard. The Block-
head line has come a long way
in the last five years. I think this
new Howard is simple as well as
rideable. For
those who like
both rounded
nose and tail,
this shape is for
you. For a deck
that measures
32.5" x 9.75" it
feels like a much
smaller board.
Along the way
they put in the
same 6.5" nose
and tail, threw in
a 14" wheelbase
and the recipe
was complete.
