IT'S A POOL, POOL WORLD
Since the dawn of skateboarding, empty swimming pools have held
a certain mystique. To carve a high smooth line through a soft, round
bowl, stuck to a vertical wall like a bug...well, there's nothing else like
it. Pool skating does have its price. Every time you slam you pay.
Common pedestrians can't comprehend it, home-owners won't have
it and cops will bust you for it. Even if you do find one, chances are
it's less than perfect. So, you move on. Everything else is just a sub-
stitute. Curbs and ramps keep you going and get you through the
day. Ditches and pipes provide an adrenaline rush for a while. Still,
the search continues, a lifelong adventure. A perfect pool is the stuff
dreams are made of. You may never find one, but you sure will have
a lot of fun looking.
This month we feature pool prose, wooden pools, private pools and
pool monsters as part of our search.
