As we prepare this issue for press, George Bush and his posse are mobilizing hun-
dreds of thousands of American troops for a big party in the Middle East. Whether or
not this action is purely directed at curbing the aggressive behavior of a madman gone
out of control or simply George's way of boosting the economy, oil prices, defense
spending and patriotism in America, we may never know. After all the posturing, finger
pointing and chest beating, maybe cooler heads will prevail. What we do know is that
if the shit hits the fan every man, women and child on this planet will be affected in
some way, as most of us in America have been already. At Thrasher headquarters we
receive a lot of mail from skaters in the military; stationed at boot camps, on naval ves-
sels and overseas. There are sure to be hundreds of skaters over in the Middle East
right now. They skate just like the rest of us. In fact, more than a few bases have had
ramps installed at the insistence of the enlisted and their offspring. But, when duty
calls, there is no skating in the desert. Boards are replaced with guns, the pools are
filled with blood and some of our bros may not be coming home. If you have a brother,
sister, friend or relative caught up in this madness, send 'em a letter, or send 'em this
