TALKING ED
STYLE Everybody has their own style. It is something you are born with
MONGERS and will die with. It's not something you can learn in books.
magazines, MTV or copy from somebody else because, no matter
what, your style will always show through. The world of
skateboarding encompasses many styles and types, but, in
general, skaters seem to get more out of life than most people.
Anybody who can get all excited at the sight of a freshly painted
red curb definitely appreciates the subtleties that life on this green
ball has to offer.
4 THRASHER MAGAZINE
Skaters are sometimes percieved by the non-wheeled public to
be loud, rude, aggressive and ugly. Partly true. Skaters like to yell,
laugh, scream and generally make a lot of noise. It's part of being
alive, out of doors, on the move and unrestricted. However, part of
the skate style also includes common sense (you need it to stay
alive), communication (skaters make friends easily) and
comraderie (there's an element of tribalism in skating the ramp
with your crew).
Thrasher has covered the skate style for almost ten years now.
Over the past couple of issues we've redesigned a lot of the
editorial space in the magazine and moved some of your favorite
columns from back to front. In the future you can expect new
departments, writers and graphics as well. Any changes are.
designed to bring you more info each month. No matter what the
magazine looks like, the style, grit and aggression will remain the
same. Rock on!
