TRASH
ORGANIZED GRIME
Following the ever-changing lines of
competitive inquiry...what's next? As
anyone who's paying attention knows,
the newly re-re-organized NSA is going
through some more major changes.
New leader Bostick was recently
sighted in Los taking in a torrid skate
session at an infamous pool located
near the Bradley smokestacks. Some
what current speculation centers
around the future activities of the World
Skate Tour. The organization's recent
detour in Dallas featured so many
officials, arena workers and other
assorted paid accomplices that the old
Reunion Arena seemed to be alive.
Ditto for the 2,000-plus kids who wit-
nessed parts of the spectacle. As for the
private Texas contest, what can you say
except that private is private? A
restricted entry venue is certainly the
opposite of the Reunion's names in
lights/giant arena professional sports
scoreboard approach. Down Texas way,
Hosoi's airshow proved an impossible
hand to beat. As so
many pros perfect
endless complex
combinations, will
evolved lip. se-
quences eventually
phase themselves out?
Extreme coordinations
remain noteworthy, but
consider the fact that in
Honolulu Hawk rode.
about half of his routine
switchfoot and no one
seemed to be aware of
it. Ditto for Gonz, who
pulled off some moves
from the next century
to little public acclaim.
The question that
begs to be asked is,
who is Buster
Halterman and what
will he do next?
There were по
questions regarding
Danny Way's second place vert
assault. Ed Templeton's pro season
debut at the Tahoe has to rank in the
Hall of Fame. His first place session
rivals some of the best. Danny Way
(again, pushing hard, gaining second)
and Tommy Guerrero's strong third
place finish question the relevance of
a certain organization's contest
qualification rituals. European compet-
itive events continue to be a pertinent
topic of discussions. The NST Munster,
the European Championship in
Yverdon, Switzerland, and the reported
$20,000 purse at the Le Grand Bornand,
France, contest are all worthy of note.
Back in the states, the California
Amateur Skate League is allegedly
fronting a masters division for veteran
rollers age 30 or over. Consider the pos-
sibilities of a senior pro skate tour.
QUESTION AUTHORITY
Did Dave Hackett actually
leave his first and last
month's rent deposit (in
cash) on the seat of the
much vaunted Oldsmobile.
Delta 88 (owned by Dave's
new landlord Steve Olson)? Was
said vehicle illegally parked and
subsequently towed? Did this lawen-
forcement roust add another C-note to
Dave's monetary loss column?

actually turn down a cameraman/
director gig at MTV due to "moral
objections?" Was Hoffman's
refusal really because of his
obsessive desire to finish his
"Paradise Lost," destruction of
Upland, video?

ducing a clothing line?
Is beach-marooned Gotcha (recent-
ly a noticeable partial pullout in the

after the snowboard clothing market?

and Ray Stevens hard at work on a
video version of the brutal Strange
Notes?
Down and dirty Mort Helig is alleged Damien S. and

design project?
Was Duane Peters so wild at Tahoe
that he could hardly navigate? Was D.P.
so busted up following a faceplant
through a plate glass portal that he was
still sporting oozing wounds and fresh
puffy stitches? Did this same invalid
show up clean and serene a week later
at Dan and Ruth's sign-in bowl and
charge the coping? Was not his aggro-
line the dominant one of the session?
Will Christian Hosoi actually open
up a nightclub as widely rumored? Or
a pool hall, perhaps?
Have K.T. and Blackhart finally
finished their eight-years-in-the-making
ramp? Was the final wood supply gen-
erously donated by an anonymous
benefactor? Is said ramp located on
legendary Thrasher Ranch in Los
Gatos, CA, which not-so-coincidentally
is owned by Thatcher's brother?
Is Henry Hester once again going off
on an asymmetrical variation? Did he
not do this in skateboard, surfboard,
sailboard and go-cart design? Is an
asymmetrical snowboard his latest
obsession? Has he somehow talked
Larry Gordon into this? Does Sarge
Carter know, and will he include it in the
new in-process video?
Is Mr. Dave the Hard Times Kid still
laboring on his epic Splendid Eye Tor-
ture project? Did a not-so-mysterious
equipment rental-type agent decide to
pull out of the endeavor in favor of go-
ing into a streak and tips direction?
Is Hans Puttis Jacobson not only the
owner of a lake and hotel but also a
world-class gourmet chef?
Is the H.O.K. video actually done or
actually just started? Can it be true that i
Lester actually ran up a $500 phone bill
calling home from Europe? Is he actu-
ally starting a Subway sandwich fran-
chise? Did Mr. K. tour on 21 trains in 29
the cover, not

of High Society)
