"I don't try to impress
anybody. I am what I am and that's about it. I do what
I do. If they dig it, well, cool, I'll give them my high five.
If they don't, well, sorry!"
Eddie got into skating in 1981. He started off
on a curb. Then a guy down the street
emptied his pool. Eddie skated tiles on the
first day. The second day he grinded. He's
had that feeling ever since.
What initial feeling made you want to skateboard?
It was that you can do anything on a skateboard. Plus,
I had nothing else to do. I used to play drums, but I liked.
skateboarding better.
If you were trying to explain skateboarding to a
caveman, how would you describe it?
It's an art form. Skateboarding is my way of getting
the rush I'm looking for. It's the rush of catching airs,
the feeling that if you don't make it you're going to slam.
It's going fast, going off! Skateboarding is dangerous.
You've got to push that limit, but you've got to hold on.
When you say pushing your limits, does that mean
falling off and sliding, or does it mean breaking an arm?
We're talking slamming. Heavy bodily harm.
