PRODUCT
PATROL
by Jake Phelps
Looking over the last few columns I see that the products
are only getting better. The majority of stuff I receive is ex-
cellent, and I am stoked to see less trash come my way. This
is the fourth anniversary of my writing this column and I would
like to thank you all (readers, writers and senders). You have
made the job interesting and fun. This month I will give you
the scoop on some decks and wheels as well as the
ultimate all-terrain vehicle.
DIRTBOARD
Supercruiser Inc., 2A Red Plum Circle, Monterey Park,
CA 91754
In the novelty depart-
ment I came across the
Dirtboard. Man, this is
insane. Ride where
no man has ridden
before. It is truly
amazing. I rode it
in the dirt, did
some slides and
found it responsive
and easy to ride. The
price is steep at $239, but
it is built to last. The
thing I didn't like was that
when it got away from
you it seemed to roll
forever, and if you take an
ankle shot you're hurtin'
for certain. It features air-
filled tires for a smooth
ride and the trucks turn
surprisingly
well. Those of
you who are a
little on the
crazy side
should look
into this pup.
K9 Wheels
Dogtown, P.O. Box
880787, San Fran-
cisco, CA 94188
Way back in
the seventies,
Dogtown made
some hot wheels
called Rock and
Rollers. Now the
rage is the K9. At
63mm, they are
an excellent size
for both streets and ramps.
They come in many colors
and three durometers
92, 95 and 97.
Smooth ride and
barkin' slide
make the K9
one beauty of
a wheel.
REESE SIMPSON
Life's A Beach, 1979 Palomar Oaks
Way, Carlsbad, CA 92009
My old buddy Mouse at
Life's a Beach sent me their
new cues to use and abuse,
and I am going to fill you
in on the Reese Simpson.
Reese has had a smooth
shape and killer
graphics on
both of his tops
(first with Mr.
Schmitt and
now with the
Bad Boy Club).
The cave is
deep, the nose
is fat and the
wood is top
notch. How can
you go wrong?
The numbers
are as follows:
31½" long, 10%" wide,
with a 4½" nose, 6%" of
tail and a 15%4" wheelbase.
The BBC isn't for everyone,
but take a look, there may
be something for you.
BOX & HAND
Small Room, P.O. Box 6930,
Baywood Park, CA 93412
Small Room is a
new company with
cool stuff. I was sur-
prised by the quality
of their decks. I am riding
the Box now, and let me be
the first to tell ya, it is a
doozy: 32" long, 10"
wide, with 5" of nose, the
ruling 74" tail and a 15"
wheelbase. The board pic-
tured is the Hand and it is
a little smaller at 30%"
long, 93/4" wide, with 41/2"
of nose, a 6½" tail and a
144" wheelbase. Both of
these decks feature a full
body concave and fat up-
turned nose. The wood is
a little on the soft side, but
as a small fish in a big
pond, they have a hella
fine product.
EDDIE REATEGUI
Alva, 32991-F Calle Aviador, San
Juan Capistrano, CA 92675
Alva is on top of
things with the new

but it's still a load to
see. The one I got E

that the wood was
