T
he H.U.S.H. series was a highly attended chain of skateworthy events for Barbarians of all ages
and sexes, but since the mentor and originator of the movement took off for Tahoe the idea has
been channeled into the present day as other skate leagues such as Team Bro and Team Effigy.
Team Bro is run in the same vein as the H.U.S.H. series but it ends up in cahoots, not prizes.
The purpose is to simply get everyone together to skate because it's more fun that way and it's easier
to get away with. These wise and willing teams are discovering spots that amount to a rigorous variety
of action-packed hours, but not without a lot of hard work. For those who chose to enroll in the
strenuous drudgery of recent times, there was the excavation project of removing shitloads of debris
from the bottom of the Tea Bowl due to the dynamite blasting executed by the city. Underneath the
muck lay a scarred but once again workable pit of skate legacy. Sole dedication to one's lifestyle is ob-
vious in decisions like this. The decrepit bowl still lies miraculously in the hills and is waiting for more
graffiti, but even more it craves your skin!
Team Effigy just laughs at it all. Banding together to hit up all worthy terrain they can get their con-
icals on, they ride their demolition decks on the cutting edge of seek-mode destroy. For the most part
they live for empty pools, navigating themselves all over the coast to session amongst the best of
underground diehards they've met over the years. That's where their hearts lie...in the pools. Team
Effigy are far from fools..
Thanks to the results of teamwork, the Barbarians seclude themselves to the handful of choice
pools including the Tilt bowl and the Dust bowl. There's a collection of ramp facilities such as Spine
ramp and the epic new Hatchett ramp, crafted by the local topnotch journeyman ripper himself. Good
work there, man. The city did the right thing, too, for a change, when they repaired the La Colina
schoolyard, for that's where the heavy bank sessions have been going down. The upstarts can also go
to the new Powell skate facility and pop off on the many strobstacles they have to offer. It's a small
consolation for the so-called skate zone dream deal, so until that happens, S.B. is just some vert away
from having the full spectrum of skate availability. The Barbarians aren't asking for favors, though.
They've already been through it all. They've never dwelled and they'll never start. The satisfaction and
the nood to skate runs deep in their blood and until it's shed, they'll be stomping their wheels down
hard like rowdy skate pirates should!
Keep it up Barbarians. Skate tall and carry a big stick!
