NO WORRIES
Story by Kevin J. Thatcher
This third tour of Australia in as many years definitely had its worries...along with its
foul ups, goof offs, pranks, food fights, and fisticuffs. When you're down under and the
going gets weird there's not much else you can do 'cept
hang on for the ride, get it? Good on ya'.
BULLET
Most of the pro skateboarder pack made it out Australia
way for the annual Ramp Riot. The 1989 edition was
relocated from the wind whipped Torquay ramp, site of the
last two year's contests into Melbourne's downtown Festival
Hall, a cozy 5,000 seater that would house a large, wide-
open vertical ramp for the Saturday-only event. When I say
Victor Miller, spoiler Schneer & injured Magnusson.

long day of skate action, brought to you by the Hardcore Hill brothers of Melbourne who
have made quite a name for themselves (good and bad)
on the Aussie skate circuit.
Anyway, seeing as the only reason for spending the
mega-bucks to get to Oz, sending the top skaters and en-
during the 14-hour plane flight was to sit in an arena with
thousands of screaming, foaming groms, it was nice to
know that it would only have to be for one day. That meant
the rest of the week would be spent getting in and out of
