The Cro-Mags have undergone another lineup fissure, with drummer Petey
Hines leaving and guitarist Doug Holland reportedly doing the same. Word
is the band will continue, though no clue has surfaced as to possible
replacements. Meanwhile, former 'Mag vocalist John "Bloodclot" Joseph
recently debuted his new band, Both Worlds Will you/did you catch the
November 10th debut of Heavy Metal/Mud Wrestling extravaganza Thunder
and Mud? Among the luminaries participating in this debauchery were Nuclear
Assault and Jessica Hahn. Somehow, the Nuclear
guys talked the gregarious Ms. Hahn into appear-
ing in their forthcoming "Critical Mass" video clip
(certainly a suitable title for the Hahnster's revamped
personal architecture). Legal Weapon, away
from the L.A. scene for a while, is back with a
vengeance under a new name: Sex and War. Kat
and Bryan are still involved, but drummer Adam
Maples, who left a while ago to join the Sea Hags.
has been replaced by none other than D.H. Pelligro.
The Tommyknockers, featuring members of
Yard Trauma, Thee Fourgiven and the Mad Dad-
dies, are now in the studio, as are the Killer Crows
Rumor has it that the Cramps have signed to
Island Records. Open those curtains and wash off that foundation
kids-when the Cure tour is through, so is the Cure. We're not sure why
and we're not even positive it's true. With his new Lp Floral Bouquet
boomin' across the nation, rumor has it that the illustrious Skatemaster
Tate and (of course) his Concrete Crew will join Bad Mutha Goose on
their U.S. tour this winter. Meanwhile, Tim Kerr and the rest of those
Bad Muthas are in Austin, TX, recording Lp number two.
Taters'
Deluxe label-mate Ungh! is rumored to be recording a live 10" Ep. Talk
about skate rock! Lead Unghster Steve Dread (Steve Snyder on the NSA
standings roster), made the cut in the NSA Central Regionals (streetstyle)
and will now compete in the national championships.... Winter studio
season continues as San Jose scorchers Goodbye Gemini track hard
in Big House Studios so they can get their debut Lp (on WAAP Records)
out before Christmas... The boys in Token Entry are also studio-
bound, with (supposedly) Vernon Reid (Living Colour) at the produc-
tion helm, guiding them to a more funky sound. Heads.
Up is another band on the same label attempting to graft funk and
98
hardcore as the trend continues to grow.
Of course, if you want to taste the
pure juice, you have to check out
George Clinton and the P-Funk All
Stars. Supposedly, at a recent perfor
mance in Cleveland, George and his
boys dug an atomic groove so deep the club owner turned off the power
in an attempt to end their extended three-hour set. Undaunted, Dr.
Funkenstein and the brass section kept jamming for another half hour
till police arrived...Freeway drifter Jeff Klindt and his band Wonderful
Broken Thing are back in the studio, laying down tracks for the upcom-
ing H-Street vid. In order to further promote the talents of his s-rock
stable, Tunemeister Tony Mag will be distributing audio cassettes of the
video's soundtrack. Prong has signed with Epic and is currently
negotiating for a Pushead cover on their next album. And speaking of
that underground icon, did you catch Pus on MTV?. TV times con-
tinued. Anybody see the Red Hot Chili Peppers on the Arsenio Hall
show? Red hot is right-the boys have been selling out clubs all over
the West Coast, record sales are booming and they're about to embark
on a European tour. If you're into heavy metal instrumental acts,
check out recent MCA signee Guy Man Dude. Dude is described as
kind of a 'Joe Satriani gone Metallica." Austin sludge blues/sixties
psychedelia outfit Hand of Glory recently rocked said city's Cannibal

Club during their record release party. Last dirt: Did
L.A. grungedaddies Dinosaur Jr. blatantly steal a song
from former Boston hardcore heavies, Last Rights and
put it on their new album? Rumor has it that an unnamed
Dino asked former Rightsman Stony Perez for permission
to use their song, "Chunks" (check your punk history
books), but never received permission to do so, never paid
Stony or the band, and credited the song to D. Jr. on the
liner notes.
