(Silly Billy) brought his board to
school 'cause he was gonna stay at
my house. They took it away and
said they weren't gonna give it back.
At the end of the day me, Jeff, Billy
Ray, Patrick and Scott (the Get-A-
Long Gang) walked into the office,
asked for it and they said no. Jeff
and Billy Ray grabbed it and ran
while the rest of us blocked the vice
principal. We ran like hell and got
out of there. Now we are all expell-
ed from school for a semester. Hey.

BUS-TED

I was on the bus the other day and
I heard these two little kids (about
7 or 8). One was telling the other that
he was real good on a skateboard.
He was saying how he could go up
on a ramp and do flips and stuff. I
thought to myself, wow, it's cool kids
| said yeah. She said she thrashed
every summer but she had broken
her board. I said, well I'll buy you
one and she said, okay. So I bought
her a Buck Smith board. Then she
borrowed five skate videos from me.
Then, in the past 30 days, she was
nowhere in sight-until a friend of
mine told me she moved to Florida.
I was so depressed. Tell me, did she
use me to get what she wanted?

Well, it depends whether she wanted
a Buck Smith or not. T-ed

Concourse (downtown San Diego).
The caption reads that there is a
15-foot drop on the other side of the
bank. But then in your April '89 issue
on page 67 it reads that there is a
20-foot drop on the other side of the
bank. So what's the deal? Does the
other side of the bank drop a couple
of feet every year?

You were snaked by Hustler on

on top of that stuff.

PEARLY SKATES
Me and my friend loved skating.
About a week ago he was killed in
a car accident. About two days later
I was watching TV when, ZAP!
There was Ed on the screen. He told
me that there is skateboarding in
heaven! I asked him if there were
any contests, and he said yes. Then
he told me that he signed me up for
one next week.

ROYAL SHAFT
I work at Kozlak's Royal Oak
restaurant and I noticed this bus girl.
I wanted to say something to her but
I'd get too nervous. Then one day.
I brought my March issue to work
and she said, "Do you thrash?" 1
Wow, you guys said it all!
The story and quotes in your April
issue were read through tears and
a great big lump in my throat. What
showed through in this story was
that it came from the HEART.
their recollections of the early days,
the insights into "the other side of
running a place such as The
Pipeline, the contests, the "firsts"
and "lasts"...the memories we will
always have of an experience of a
lifetime. The Pipeline was a family
tree with strong branches and new
leaves-sometimes full leafed and
majestic, sometimes bare and
bleak-sometimes housing eagles,
sometimes the home of new life
struggling from the nest to try their
wings; always battling the elements;
sometimes needing pruning to keep
its identity, providing shelter from
the disbelievers; sometimes infested
with a few termites; but always a part
of the landscape known as the
Badlands.
Thank you all-skaters, parents,
mags and manus-for making the
past 11 years truly GOLDEN. It
took all of you to put together the
fantastic memories we will always
have of The Pipeline.
Please understand it was with
heavy heart that the decision was
made to close the park-the skaters
were NEVER the reason-only the
pressures of liability and impending
"old age."
Thanks for the Memories

Now it's our turn for tears. Thanks
Jeanne, thanks Stan. T-ed
