INOTES
Token Entry, Rest In Pieces, Wrecking Crew
and No for an Answer recorded a live album at
CBGB's in NYC. It will be called Free For All and
should be released soon on Hawker Records.
Token Entry mainstays Tim (vocals) and Ernie
(drums) are now joined by new bass man Mike
Bitton (ex-Supertouch) and Billy Pulice on guitar.
Also on Hawker will be an Lp entitled Under My
Skin by Rest In Pieces. They're recording now with
Craig Setari (Agnostic Front) joining them on
bass. Seen Elvis lately? If you have, call
619-239-KING immediately. This is the number
Mojo Nixon and Skid Roper set up for people
to report their Elvis sightings and theories. In
related news, it seems Mojo may have won the
part of Jerry Lee Lewis' drummer in an upcom-
ing movie entitled Great Balls of Fire.... Hey
pinheads, the new Ramones album, Brain Drain
DDD
should be out any day now. Also, look for their single, "Pet Sematary"
theme song for the new Stephen King flick of the same name. "Sheena
is a Punk Rocker" will also enhance King's splatter-fest soundtrack.
On a less fortunate note, the Ramones had to cancel all their April gigs
when Joey was hospitalized with an unspecified ailment. Killing
Joke are on the road again, touring behind a new Lp. 1989 marks their
tenth year. Jaz (vocals) and Geordie (guitars), the only original members,
are joined by Martin Atkins (ex-PIL and Brian Brain) on drums. Andy
Rourke (ex-Smiths bass) practiced with the band for a while, but was
kicked out for being a miserable, moody little wimp. He was replaced
by an able but unknown bassist guy named Talf... The Lemonheads
are back together and should have their new Lp, Lick out by the time
you read this Also, Taang Records mates Bullet Lavolta, Moving Targets
and Jerry's Kids should be out on vinyl soon... Touch and Go will
be releasing mucho vinyl this summer. Urge Overkill, Laughing Hyenas
and Killdozer will all have new Lp's. Recently signed to Touch and Go
is The Jesus Lizard. It's: David Simms (ex-Rapeman) on bass. David
Yow on vocals, Dwayne Denison (ex-Cargo Cult) on guitar and an as
yet unnamed drum machine. Their Lp, tentatively entitled Twelve Point
Buck, should be out soon. Rapeman have called it quits. Rey
Washam is the only former member currently bandless. Still more
Touch and Go news. They have released a very limited edition Killdozer
Lp, For Ladies Only. Only 2,000 of the multi-colored vinyl slabs were
printed, so grab yours now if you can. Another limited edition release
will be Die Kreuzen's 7", Gone Away. One side is live, the other is studio
and the sleeve folds out into a 30 cross... Big news is the "official"
bootleg double record Lp by the Butthole Surfers. It will be live material

recorded during their last tour on a digital tape deck, accompanied by
an 18-page booklet that's sure to be artistically significant. Oc
California's Insted and New Jersey's Vision just completed a successful
Northeast tour. It was a real success for Vision who signed with L.A.'s
Nemesis Records to put out a ten-song Lp tentatively called in the Blink
of an Eye Also on Nemesis is Visual Discrimination with a soon-to-be-
released Lp Step Back and Listen After ten years and some real
hard times, including Johnny Patterson's courageous recovery from
a near-fatal explosion, No Alternative is back on stage. Concrete
Blonde is back with an Lp and tours to follow. Frontwoman Johnette
Napolitano has abandoned her bass and taken on a bass player so
she can devote all her energies to singing and songwriting... Ex-Go
Go Charlotte Caffrey has a new gal-group called the Graces. They're
currently in the studio, cutting an album for A&M... Condolences go
out to Kent Smythe, roadie supreme for a host of bands including
Blondie. The Cramps. The Runaways. The Clash and The Dickies.
Kent was in a motorcycle accident recently and consequently lost one
of his legs. A benefit concert is in the works. Nick Cave and the
Bad Seeds shook up L.A. for two nights in a row at the Club With No
Name (formerly Scream). The ear-melting show was marvelous, but the
best part was getting a glimpse of Mr. Cave's tour rider, which stated
in no uncertain terms that Madonna records must be played for at least
half an hour before his appearance on stage...Tattoo of the month
award goes to Rat's Ass (formerly of Tales of Terror). In addition to
the bat-winged "Elvis From Hell" on his his right tricep, Mr. Ass has
gone for broke, adding a beehived true-to-life portrait of Priscilla Presley
lower down on the same arm. Sentimental? Yeah-but maybe not when
you notice that not only does she have a pair of
devil horns, but she's riding a unicycle and juggling some
easily identifiable pills. We just wanna know how he's
going to explain the tattoo to his grandchildren.... Radio Tokyo Studios
is releasing another of their famous compilation records. Previous
releases have included the likes of the Dream Syndicate, the Bangles.
Rain Parade, Minutemen, etc. This compilation will focus on L.A.-based
female musicians and will feature tracks by Sylvia Juncosa. L-7, The
Ringling Sisters. Angel of the Odd, Screaming Sirens, Dos (with Kira
Roessler and Mike Watt of Firehose) and the Love Dolls. It should
be a killer and, since it's distributed by Capitol, it will be easy to find
in your local bins. Shrine, LA's funk and roll extravaganza featur-
ing the foxiest chick singer imaginable, is close to signing a deal with.
Capitol Lock Up, another rad and funkin' outfit, has just inked a pact
with Geffen. Killer Crow's lead singer Texas Terry has been stunn
ing LA. audiences with her crazed whiskey-swilling Keith Richards-
like stage presence. Reportedly, Skatemaster Tate was the first casual
male observer to ogle her orbs after her custom enlargement job. Terry
claims she wants to perform a la Iggy, i.e. shirtless, but hasn't yet. What
she did do was fall down a flight of slippery stairs at the L.A. Weekly
10th anniversary party and tracture her ankle in three places. Trooper
that she is, Terry's been performing in a hip-length cast.
