Bill Dorr
Not too many skaters out there are grandfathers.
Sixty-three-year-old Bill Dorr is, and he rips better than
many 15-year-olds. Bill was a long time local at Whit-
tier Skatepark and Upland Pipeline but he's not one
to lament the loss of such spots. "That was yesterday
and I'm more interested in tomorrow," says Dorr. Bill
used to produce off-Broadway shows and rock con-
certs in NYC. He started skating when he moved to the
West Coast. "It's a superb activity, not just
a sport," says Bill. "You feel so good after
skating six hours. I find that teenagers who
skate are far superior to average kids. They
definitely march to their own music. Not your
basic 'duh' down at the mall. They're very
creative." Bill Dorr proves that skateboarding
is truly a sport for the ages...all ages.

Sky Lopez
You may remember two-year-old Sky Lopez from a Photograffiti in our
August '88 issue. Today, Sky is a year older and bolder. The Lopez crew-
dad Juan, 10-year-old Troy and Sky-work out on a 4' high, 16' wide mini-
ramp in the yard of their new home just outside of Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Obviously, Sky is not your average wannabe. He doesn't seem affected by
all the hype surrounding skating. When shown his photo in the mag, Sky
wasn't even fazed. He had already seen the pic and couldn't understand
why everybody was all excited. Oh, to be three again..
