saw Ace Frehley sit in on CO.P's track "Let-
ters Home." Are Phil and Oprah not far off for
these tattooed riffsters? A recent headbang
night in N.Y.C. featuring Overkill and Leeway
saw members of Metallica, Anthrax and Dan-
zig in attendance. But who would have
guessed that David Bowie would show up dur-
ing Leeway's set? Is Ziggy a closet head
shagger? Speaking of Danzig, they are
in the process of recording seven songs, some
for the new 12" She Rides and others for their
upcoming Lp. Production on the third Danzig

Hollywood's notorious all-girl band, The Lovedolls have been in a
flurry of activity recently-producing (and financing) the debut album
for this incarnation of the band. It should be out by mid-summer....
It seems that poetry and spoken word is the next logical step in occupa-
tions for ex-Black Flag singers. First, it was Henry Rollins (currently
on a spoken-word tour in Germany) and now Keith Morris, ex-Flag and
current (yes, still) Circle Jerk has gotten in on the act. He's been perform
ing at the Zero One Gallery in Hollywood, with the likes of Bob Forrest
(Thelonius Monster) and Angelo (Fishbone). Speaking of that
hep chat-man Henry R., Not No One, a low-budget film featuring Henry
as a prison inmate, will debut at the Cannes Film Festival later this year.
The Miracle Workers have been holed up in the studio for months,
working on their new album Primary Domain, which will be released
in Europe on Glitterhouse Records. They will also release a single-an
eight-minute psychedelic opus entitled "Mary Jane."... Junkyard has
just finished recording their debut Lp for Geffen Records and has also
recently signed with AC/DC's management company. Rumor has it that
Geffen was really bummed out with ex-Big Boy (we're talkin' BIG, honey)
Chris Gates' added poundage and insisted he go to a gym to work out.
The junk-boys' new manager, much to Chris' relief, told him not to worry
and to eat anything he wanted-Fat and sweaty will be your image!"
... Apparently skater/rocker/psychotic case-study, Jeff Grosso, has
been ejected from his post as the Insultors second vocalist. Jeff's "over-
enthusiasm at shows managed to get the band blacklisted from every
club on the L.A. strip. More mayhem up the coast: Poison Idea
drummer, Steve Hanford, reportedly had a little too much fun after a
86
recent P.I. gig in San Francisco. Steve was returning in the band van
from a hospitable female fan's apartment at around 5 a.m., when he
had a steering error and ended up remodeling the whole front wall and
picture window of a Mission Street jewelry store. Steve was O.K., but
much of the band's equipment was wrecked.... Deja-Nuge: Get ready
folks, Ted Nugent, infamous 70's gun-slingin' guitar god has re-
assembled his original line-up for an Lp on Captiol....The Cult have
been busy filming their new video at Raliegh Studios in L.A.. No word
yet as to its title or release date. Did the Red Hot Chili Peppers
replace still-new drummer, D.P. (former D.K.) with a faithful roadie?
Ex-Hirax man, Katon W. DePena has announced the formation of World
Trust, a new band formed in the ashes of the recently disbanded Hirax.
Joining the outfit on guitar is Jeff of now defunct Half-Off. What
band is Dave Smalley (ex-DYS/Dag Nasty All) in this week? It seems
that Dave has hooked up with Pat Fear of White Flag and members
of the Chemical People in a new, still unnamed project. Watch out
for Cronos, a band featuring the former Venom bassist/vocalist of the
same name. Word has it that there just may be a Venom reunion soon.
Milwaukee's Die Kreuzen will soon be releasing a 7" single featur-
ing their rendition of Aerosmith's "Seasons of Winter" and a live Ep.
both on Touch and Go. The discs will be out soon. The main mouth
of the television talk show circuit, Morton Downey Jr., decided to talk
to members of the rock scene. Not only did old Mortie ham it up with
the rockers, he also sported a wicked zipper earring. Guests included
Scott lan of Anthrax, Joey Ramone, Ace Frehley, Circus of Power
and the Cycle Sluts From Hell. A live performance from Circus of Power

video, She Rides, is in the works. Is the band
really planning
to move?
Prong are back from a successful tour of Europe, where
they played with hot newcomers Head of David and Godflesh.
Rumors are running wild that main man Ron has quit Final Conflict
for personal reasons, stemming mainly from his Nintendo unit and
a new game on nuclear disarmament. Will Final Conflict continue?
...The major labels are paying close attention to the new dirge hard
rock invasion. One of the mightiest of these bands is Tad from Seattle,
whose release on Sub Pop will irk your brain.
