MAIL DROP
(From page 8) wish it would melt, pray
for more! All you shredders in those
chilly kinda states-snowboarding is
happening! Beg Mom to drive you
to the local snowboard suppliers,
rent a well-waxed 165cm and get on
those slopes! If Mom has to stay
home and vacuum, grab those keys,
hop in the ol' Pinto and get going!
The sensation of a high speed carve.
taking a jump and tweaking a Japan
air is too bio to explain. And just
because you can't pull a 6-foot
method on the first day, don't call it
lame and throw the towel in. You'll
thank me later. So why am I still
talking and not out slappin' snow
banks? I'm in a car on the way up
to Loon Mountain, NH, for a mean
boarding session with the snow
crew. Thanks again, THRASHER,
for your appreciated coverage on a
raging sport.

CRIME IS A CRIME
Every day I pass the Love Bowl
and numerous other carvable, grind-
able places, including the walls,
halls and curbs of my institution. Yet
I suffer because even trustees don't
get skateboards in jail.
When you're low on cash, bored
of that same scene, need a new kind
of high-think hard before you do
that little theft or dope deal. After the
last year behind locked doors, get-
ting my thrills by picking up trash on
freeways and lakes, that old scene
doesn't seem lame at all.

JUDGEMENT NAY
I, for one, was not impressed with
Guns 'n' Roses in your December
88 article. Then again, I'm not im-
pressed with Youth of Today or
Overkill. Like it or not, though, these
bands are facets of our hobby/sport.
Many people around here who have
expressed their feelings about the
article sound as close-minded and
frustrated with different people as
their parents are. These people
should look at themselves before
passing judgement on others, or
they might end up much like their
parents-old, divorced alcoholics.
who have wasted away their lives
passing judgement on others. They
should ask themselves questions
such as "What have I done?" or
"Where am I going in life?"
Many people say Guns 'n' Roses
are assholes singing about getting
drunk and getting some "pussy.
That's better than "I hate the state.
I hate minorities. Cops are Nazis!"
Those ideas have been rehashed
over and over, forever. I respect
Guns 'n Roses in one aspect-they
seem to be realists. They realize that
the government isn't going to listen
to a bunch of kids screaming "I hate
the facist state" and say "Gee,
you're right. We are a bunch of jerks,
and it took your off-key screeches
and feedback to wake us up."
You have a choice in music, and
you have a choice in magazines.
You can choose real skaters and
real bands (you won't always like
either one that's life) or you can
choose a shiny, artsy-fartsy rag-
that's a rock video.

P.S. Skateboarding is illegal. Don't
act surprised when you get busted.
Shut up and vote.
PAVEMENT PATROL
You know when you have an
awesome session one day, do you
ever have dreams at night? Well, I
do. It's exactly the same feeling as
when you are on your board. I
dreampt I was skating the local curb
(which is pretty thrashed) and who
came along? The police. No, wait,
it was the "curb police." They were
dressed in flourescent pink suits
with kneepads and helmets. They
drove a clown's car and picked up
the curb and placed it on the roof.
They told me that they would repair
it and return it in a couple of days.
Then they handed me a little pink
slip. The next day I was so stoked
about my dream I had to session
that curb. I turned the corner and it
was gone; it vanished! I was stoked
and also confused. What the hell?

MORE GOOD GORE
Last night my friend climbed to
the top of his roof and dove head-
first into a pile of spikes covered in
peroxide. He said it hurt and he
hated it. I know that wasn't a skate-
related injury, but I figured it was
time we had a change from "...got
hit in the face with a full can of
Coke...lost four teeth." I hate that.
If we're going to talk about injuries,
make 'em good.

PIGSKIN PAYOFF
This guy I know (captain of the
football team) was blowing me crap
about skating. He said it's for people
with no talent. I said anyone can play
football. He said no dice, but anyone
can skate. After school me and the
boys were pulling acid drops off a
loading dock. He and his buddies
showed up and started giving us
hell. I offered him my stick. He took
it, said anybody can do this stuff,
and proceeded up the dock. He
came off too fast, lost the board and
landed on his side. A perfect SLAM!
We chuckled while he and his mob
got into their cage and split. I got a
call about an hour ago from the
same dude. He said he was sorry for
everything he said and asked me to
sign his new cast! He's got a broken
arm. Bummerf

Well, hopefully he told them it was a
