Frosty, because snowboarding is growing faster
than the national debt. Most ski areas in the
U.S. have gotten a clue and opened their slopes
to snowboarders. Half-pipes are breeding like
born-again Christians and at least one resort
(Stratton, Vermont) has actually dug a perma-
nent pipe for guaranteed grinding. Equipment
technolgy has progressed to the same level as
the ski industry, and some of the big ski manus
(i.e. K2 and Rossignol) have cut into the
proverbial lift line with their own board models.
Companies like Koflach and Dolomite have
made custom boots with adjustable lateral flex,
and step-in bindings are only a season away.
These facts all add up to one undenible con-
clusion: snowboarding is going to explode this
season. Hop on a board, creak an edge and
you'll understand why.
