because you're hot. When you're pro, skateboarding is get-
ting a signature model, ads, autographs, interviews, movies, TV,
stunt work, responsibility and, finally, forgetting why you started
in the first place. Then you remember that skateboarding is
a special kind of madness. It's a combination of balance, tech-
nique, power, knowledge, love, hate, respect and fear-instinctive
perception gained only through repeated contact. Skateboarding
is a moment of glory, of achievment, of unsung triumph. For
the man, skateboarding is freedom and youth rediscovered, and
for the boy, a means of self-expression vital to his being. For
