No stranger to Texas skies, Tommy Koesel gets flashy during a pro
demo on the Blue ramp in Dallas. Inset: Matt Kline, one to watch for.
SKATE FOR FUN SPRING SERIES '88
Dallas, Texas
Dallas is one of the best places to hold con-
tests because the turn-out is enormous,
usually. Our event only sported 51 entrants
total, a big letdown from last year, probably
because the past few months have literally
been saturated with contests. Anyway, the
skaters that did show were dedicated
enthusiasts of all ages.
Everything was surprisingly smooth, ex-
cept for the ramp. The infamous Blue Ramp
has had a few too many sessions on it. But
what can you expect from a ramp that is ten
years old? Almost everyone complained

about the conditions, but it didn't seem to
alter the contest at all. There were very im-
pressive showings by all of the age groups.
I think the best ride of the day goes to Mark
Roach. He and David Nielsen were neck and
neck most of the way, but Mark's last ride
was completely flawless. He rode for about
two minutes and did about thirty different
tricks. Nielsen knew the heat was on, so it
was time for the old frontside stalefish and
McTwist routine. Quite impressive, not quite
enough however. First place-Roach.
