Beyond edgy. Claus Grabke demonstrates what it's all about at the now defunct Blood Bowl, Oakland, CA.

lipside to revert. Many
moves have been born in
pools and perfected on
ramps. Why? Pools breed
speed. Speed will set you
free. Speed is the crack
between sketch and style.
Catch it and then hang on
for the glide. With speed,
nothing is impossible.
A slick ramp is no place
for speed. A cool, blue-tiled
pool with smooth round
walls is where it thrives.
Ask the Unseen Skate
Team, pool maniacs from
way back. No one's ever
seen them, no one knows
where they live, they've
never been busted, but the
word is they shred coping
like it's wheat on a spoon.
Some pools are kind,
others nasty, which is why
some are given affec-
tionate names; "That
Sweet Kidney on 11th
Street," "The Rose Bowl,"
and "The Lightning Bowl,"
and some are given names
of contempt, "The Cess
Pool," "The Arm Pit,"
etc... But what names
are given to ramps? Dull
and unimaginative appel-
lations like, "Joe's Ramp,"
"Fred's Ramp" and "The
Ramp Where The Bitchy
Lady Lives." Worst of all,
some ramps are given
names that are absolute
lies, like "The Perfect
Ramp." Whoever named
that one has never skated
a pool.
