I don't know about anyone else, but I am
sick of going to a city and seeing skaters
hangin' out in front of a 7-11, doing the same
old tricks in the same old spot. It's time to talk
to these kids and see if they know any "real"
skate spots and see if they can come up with
a better answer than "this is it" or "there's
a pretty good curb over there." Come on,
parking lots in front of lame liquor stores are
no place to polish up on street tricks. Besides,
you might get slammed by a sugar-loaded,
stressed out, traffic-stricken commuter who's
jonesin' for more and ready to refuel. Or you
could slip in an oil slick, or (worse yet) upset
the owner of the store so much that he calls
the law on you for loitering. While in Akron
for a demo with Surf Ohio, me and my crew
spotted a few able looking skaters in the
downtown area. We asked, "Wha's up?!
Where do you skate? Where's the spots?" In
return we heard, "Well, gee, there's a killer
Sometimes a "secret" spot is as plain as the nose on your skate. This certain
"Glory Hole" was well known to fisherman decades before skaters discovered
