Back in 1977 I remember going to Alameda
Skatepark, one of the first skateparks in the Bay Area,
and seeing a rail-thin, tiny Tommy Guerrero clad in
beany cap and Ben Davis slacks spinning 360's in
the freestyle area. He was chattering with the Alot-
A-Flex crew, a rag tag unit of East Bay boys who were
some of the most innovative skaters of the time.
Since then, Tommy has popped in and out of every
skate hole, half-pipe and street scene in Northern
California. In more recent years his pro status has
carried him all over the states on skates, including
Hawaii and Canada. Although TG still chills with the
same City Boyz he hung with early on, he's a hard
one to pin down between skate tours. We managed
to nail him to a few serious sessions for a long
overdue interview. ►
