PEST PEEVE
One day I was doing a 360° power
slide when my wheel popped off and
started to roll away. I caught it and
went to a body shop next door. I set
my board where the guy did not see
it, and I asked him for a ½" wrench.
He asked me what kind of bike I had.
I said, what do you mean? He said,
you know, the bikes you do tricks on.
I said the wheel came off of my
skateboard, I'm a skater. He told me
to leave. I said, what about my
wheel? He said, go home and fix it.
I would like to know where the hell
the skater's rep is going.
RIDING THE FAULT

I live in Southern California where
earthquakes aren't odd. In the morn-
ing I was skating to my friend's house
like I do every day. When I got there
my friend informed me that at 7:42
that morning we had one of our
earthquakes. This explained the
reason I heard things falling in peo-
ple's houses and why I got showered
with leaves by a tree. But for some
reason, while everything around me
was shaking, I was skating away.

WARTIME
My friends and I made up this
game called Skate Wars. The object
of the game is to get the least points.
If you put one foot off your board
that's half a point. If you put two feet
off the board that's a full point.
Whoever gets up to three points
loses. Street Skate Wars is basically
the same game but there are no
boundaries. In Street Skate Wars you
throw objects in front of the other
skaters to make them eat it. We
usually play it on the way to
somebody's house, or other long.
distances. It's a pretty dangerous
game, but if you like danger, you'll
love Skate Wars.

SWEEP DREAMS
The other day my cousin and 1
were skating in a really rad
warehouse parking lot. There was at
paved embankment, and we were
kicking off pebbles so we could shoot
it. Just then an elderly guy came out
and approached us. We thought he
was going to tell us to get lost,
because we've had the cops called
on us and have been tossed out of
other places. But this cool dude ask-
ed us if we wanted a push broom to
clear off the embankment. We
couldn't believe it. I just want to say
thanks to that cool dude. STOP
SKATE HARASSMENT.

I cruz into Sears with my mom the
other day, and as we are browsing
about, low and behold, mom points
and says "Radskate?" So I check it
cut. I don't know how rad it was, all
I could muster was "cool." It was an
8-inch (plastic) dude on a skate. The
98
skate was remote controlled
(wireless). The little "skater" had on
a Tracker shirt and was riding a Tony
Hawk board. I guess it was all right.
I don't think I'd pay $60 for it, but no
doubt somebody will.

I just want to say something about
our ramp. It was taken on September
27, 1987. It was great: 12' wide, 9' high
and smooth as a baby's butt. The
thing was, it was made with
UNSTOLEN wood. It was up for
about five months, when one day,
while we were in school, the unjust
county school board violently ripped
it out of the woods and into the coun-
ty dump. Now all the skaters are on
the strets, the local security wants us
off. There is a moral to this story:
LEAVE US ALONE. We don't bother
anybody, we just skate.
DEAD STRAIGHT

What be happening, Holmes?
Don't get me wrong, your magazine
rips, but this music deal is getting a
bit out of hand. For two years I have
put up with 4-plus pages of what I
regard as punk-hardcore-"let's
scream and yell and call ourselves
musicians" crapola and kept cool
about it. Although, after reading in
Trash/On Board how I may have
missed the Rolling Stone issue with
the Grateful Dead on the cover I had
to write in. Where do you guys get
off putting down a music legend such
as the Dead? They've been around
decades longer than any of
Pushead's manure music. A lot of
skaters need to learn to get into
mellow music. I vote for a poll among
subscribers and readers as to if and
what music should be covered. I
hope to see this in print and hear
other skaters' reactions.

GOOD SPORT REPORT
I want to tell you about another
adult who doesn't call the cops every
time you make noise skating. This
lady, who owns "My Hobby." is really
cool. A couple of days ago we had
a huge jam (50-60 people) in a park-
ing garage at 10:00 p.m. with launch
and wall ramps and curbs. She was
there video-taping us and cheering
us on. Then she said she would give
a deck for the best launch, best
wallride, and best street session.
When 11:45 came around, the cops
told us we had to leave because the
neighbors were complaining. She
was disappointed, so she said she
would take us all out for pizza but all
the places were closed (small city,
huh?). So she said Denny's was
open so she took us there (about 5
carloads: 25 people) and she paid for
all of us. She was so nice. Finally we
finished at around 2:00 a.m. and
everyone went home.
