San Jose, Steve Caballero recently
cut his ten-foot tall structure down to
a six-foot, mid-sized one. It's no sur-
prise to see the SJ. crew con-
gregating in Steve's backyard for
daily sessions once again.
A major mini-ramp was recently
completed near Vancouver, B.C
Canada, in Richmond. Kevin Harris'
Skate Ranch features a mini "Chin"
ramp which was designed and con-
structed by fellow teammate Lance
Mountain. This mega mini-structure
consists of two mini-ramps which
connect at 90°, forming a killer hip
area, a flat-wall with six feet of vert-
ical, a speed bump, various transi
tions and steel pipe coping along
each lip as well. The local kids skate
this structure daily and have it wired.
Mini-ramps are perfect-sized struc-
tures for those of you who have the
desire to toy around on some transi
tions during the wet winter months.
So go check out your basement,
garage or abandoned warehouse for
a spot to start building that mini.

It seems that you have quite a
fascination with schizophrenia.
I read a lot on schizophrenia, and I
think I have a little bit of it in my blood.
It seems that with the rather
different course Voi Vod seems to
be taking, you guys are expanding
the boundaries of metal.
We're not able to label our stuff since
we have so many influences that we
don't even know what we're doing
any more. People have called us
everything from industrial metal to
outer space punk and all I can say
is that we're trying to do high tech
metal. Some people called us
nuclear metal, but those were the
same people that called us Nazis.
Compared to a lot of speedcore, our
stuff is more rooted in power since
we learned to play by listening to
Motorhead. Bands like Kreator
learned to play by listening to Slayer.
While I think that's a good way of
future inspiration, I think a lot of those
bands play faster than they should.
so they lose a lot of feeling and
tightness.
Do you see yourself moving away
from the metal label?
We always seem to be moving away
from metal, like Slayer and Metallica.
We're a lot more like hardcore. The
evolution of our music is always
going to happen.
Where does the Voi Vod move next?
Our next album is going to be titled
"Dimension Hadross." The Voi Vod
will have to create a new dimension,
which is a reflection on the evolution
of humanity. The point is that the
technological evolution is going
faster that the social evolution, which
I think is going to be very dangerous
in the next few years.
