PUBLIC ENEMY
Yo! Bum Rush The Show
Def Jam
Just when you thought it was
safe to buy a Def Jam album
along comes Public Enemy with a
rap record guaranteed to bring
some rough edges into your dull
life. This in no top-10 "go to church,
go to school" shtick, nor are Public
Enemy towing the "party" line
either. They have just enough real-
ty, raunch and righteousness to get
their point across without getting
too bogged down in "bad mufu"
bragging. They talk about suckers,
crack dealers, and "homeboys in

Erickson, figures to go down in the i
annals of music as one of the best
misunderstood geniuses to spew
forth spew. He sits down and
plunks out "Don't Slander Me" and
"Will The Circle Remain Un-
broken" (and others) with unbridled
passion and still sounds like he
wants to go down the hall and get
some ice. Too much, and too
little-twenty minutes of music is
just a little, but no matter. Greatness
starts small, gets big and stays in
cheesy hotel rooms. WC

Bigger And Deffer
Def Jam
Bigger and deffer, fly'er, cleaner,
bustin' my rhyme...you gotta hand
it to this guy, at least he's got all his
shit in one sock. L.L., yo J, comes
off smelling like a rose with better
production this time around. A gut-
fulla rap n' posing n' stuff about
how Cool J is still the best gangster,
lover, fighter, rapper. "Go Cut
Creator Go" uses Check Berry's
"Johnny B. Goode" to its maximum
potential and will wipe out all you
