with laybacks on the vert flat wall. Chris
Baucom vaulted the big platform with room
to spare, his feet becoming detached and re-
attached in the process.
Alas, only eight skaters could make it into
the money round. The chosen few were:
Mountain, Hosoi, Danforth, Guerrero, Dressen,
Gonzales, Kendall and Caballero. Baucom
and Hawk were slayed out of the top eight
by just a few points.
These top eight skate pirates reared back
and drew their sabres for one last charge.
Danforth harshed it out with slamming blunt
variations. Kendall ollie flipped off the launch
right onto the hood of the good ship Pontiac,
then pulled a 360° wall ride. Lance embellished
his run with a headless horseman, t-shirt over
the head, blind side board slide. Tommy flew
from ramp to ramp then look time out to show
everyone that you can skate on the flat if you
want to, and even bounced two quick ollies
in succession over the two-by-four supports
underneath the Bahne ramp.
Mark Gonzales worked the main stage with
frontside boardslides down the stair rail, then,
just for fun, moved a jump ramp into posi
tion and board slid up the rail. Gonz was
awarded fourth for his strong effort. Eric
Dressen mixed speed with air-walking flights
of fancy that landed him on the upper decks
of the platforms. The Red took a third place
cup back to his homeland. Steve Caballero
missed a couple of shots, but his mastery of
curbs combined with ramp and vert control
