WRASH
OBSERVATIONS
After being seen ripping some esoteric
vertical spots, Duane Peters made it offi-
cially unofficial by connecting with the Mar-
tian to negotiate for subsidized Santa Cruz
equipment. Is Duane, as rumors have it,
actually returning to the competitive arena?
Can the NSA stand the pressure? Can an
Elguera-Peters face-off be far off?
The way underground legend, Ray
"Bones" Rodriguez surfaced recently in
the living room of none other than Christian
Hosoi. Rodriguez's current street skate
activities are the source of much commen-
tary in the Los-Orange region. Unfounded
rumor has Bones training with deviant
legend Jay Smith.
Even more removed from the currently
over-commercialized aspects of contem
porary skate life is the epic performer Danny
Bearer. D.B., as hardcores no doubt
remember, was the stylistic innovator of the
original Hobie-Super Surfer skate team.
Bearer's legendary proto vert/pool antics
are no laughing matter. Danny is currently
favoring a longer cue and allegedly is
editing a feature length archival epic featur-
ing radical unseen footage of da kine 1964
vintage skate aggression. Hal Jepson is
rumored to be associated in this endeavor.
Mr. Jepson is also rumored to be a prime
contender as editor of Scott Deitrich's
current skate film project.
RUMORS
Musical Art Chairs Original Dogtown
artist Wes Humpston is rumored to be at
Santa Monica Airlines. One time SMA art
associate Chris Buchinsky is rumored to

be the uncredited artist responsible for the
latest Powell-Peralta animated video intro

my Z/Dogtown contributing artist is rumored
to be working at THRASHER.
Jesse M. is rumored to be returning to
SM Air and his original coach, the fabulous
Skipperboy. It was Engblom, by the way,
who covets Saberhagen's World Series
game ball, not Muir and Roberta, as typo-
erroneously reported last mo in this space.
An attractive female Somoan and a
vacuum cleaner are the alleged cause of
a bizarrely convoluted industrial accident
claim. Brian Ridgeway is rumored to have
authored the aforementioned claim at the
fabled Tracker Trucks manufacturing com-
plex where he allegedly lost a pair of $60
Sony Walkman headphones. Just how
Ridge managed to suffer this loss is any
rational person's guess, however the infinite
mathematically possible variations on a
theme offered by a skater, a girl, a vacuum
cleaner and a Walkman are staggering.
An even stranger rumor from T-land
regards the persistent rumor of a Tracker
Team training complex. Besides an alleged
ramp, the Tracker-ites now supposedly sport
a team trainer. The rumored identity of this
sport-medic is Barry Zaritsky. Someone
should have suspected something when
Tracker Larry was recently observed wear-
ing a 1500 buck 1958 Hamilton pacer
wristwatch while he ate raw cactus plants.
A prominent pro streetstyler is rumored
to be sought by Orange County cops. The
crime was self-defense.

Rocco rumored to be sought by
Midwestern police following a riotous demo.
The Bones Brigade demo team of Jesse,
Thiebaud, Guerrero and Kevin Harris pull-
ed up to the ultimate demo at Val Surf a bit
late due to a broken cat. The energized
audience was so pumped that the elite
LA.PD. Devonshire squad dispatched over
twenty squad cars and a copter to break up
the two thousand or so skaters amassed.
The Brigade was allegedly taken away by
police "for protective purposes" and later
released. The funny thing is that the skaters
came to the cop shop and sessioned there.
Val Surf owner Mark Richards reportedly
was so stoked that he's scheduled the
Brigade for a much larger, more bullet-proof
arena.
Then there is the case of prominent San
Francisco skate vendor who, in a fit of
desperation, is rumored to have "bitch slap-
ped" the ever-renowned Jake. Jake is
rumored to have retained a lawyer. Perhaps
Jake will soon own a Harley and will start
to socialize with higher tone types

CRIME & PUNISHMENT
Witness the exploits of Simon X from St.
Lambert, Quebec, who, after being issued
a bunk $10 citation by local mounties,
allegedly equipped himself with an artsy
"Stop Skate Harassment stencil and
painted the sidewalks all over town. A major
Montreal newspaper, The Gazette, picked
up on the scrawlings and featured a large
photo of Mr. X's design. Simon says
always worth reacting. You never know what
sort of attention you'll get, for better or
worse.
