DEATH FROM WITHIN
I have recently come into the
skating scene, and no matter what I
read, there seems to be a tremen-
dous amount of animosity between
skaters. Skaters call each other
"poseurs" and bitch about one thing
or another. And the funny part is you
always read about how skating is
dying or is soon to die, and these
people wonder why. Jesus, can't
people figure out why? It's because
skating is dying from the inside. If you
want skating to survive, then do it.
Skate. Stop worrying about what
others do. If a person finds thrills in
standing around holding a skate-
board, so be it. Quit worrying about
stupid b.s. and get out there and
shred. Express yourself, not others.
I think we'd better re-organize our
values before we criticize others or
skating will die a short "trendy"
death.

Well, I hear there's going to be a
"Standing and Holding" division in
the next street contest. Ted
SKATERS REMEMBERED
I've developed a new appreciation
for Thrasher Mag. I really thought it
was cool of you guys to print the
memorial for Daniel Leonard. I
understand the pain Daniel's friends
and relatives are in; a good friend
and fellow skater-Keith Stimson-
recently died. I like to think that both
"Jake" and "Keefus" are shredding
it up in a better place.

Thanx Slick-Jake's memorial was
also meant as a condolence for
anyone who has lost someone close.
DROP OUTS
What's the deal here? We live in
a pretty good-sized town with some
killer skating terrain. Yet people are
dropping out of the skate scene like
flies down here. Our school used to
be packed with some really rad
skaters. But now only a few skaters
remain (and half of them are
poseurs). When we ask someone
why they quit, he'll usually say
something stupid like, "I was tired of
spending so much money on skate
clothes and stupid skate albums."
Hell, we don't care if they listen to
Michael Jackson and wear a dress.
as long as they skate tough.

THE DEVIL MADE THEM DO IT
My name is William Bradshaw
Webb Ill and I work for a bunch of
chicken-shit yuppies in downtown
Dallas. In the past I have entertained
myself by putting up Pushead and
Zorlac posters on my copy-room wall.
I do this to show those jerks that I'm
not going to conform to their way of
thinking, not no way, not no how.
So anyway, this lady comes into
my work place and takes a look at my
Pushead poster and she says that-
get this-I'm being roped into sub-
mission by the snags and barbs of
Satanism. Two days later this same
lady gets all of her prude friends
together for a meeting and they all
conclude that I am a Satan worshiper
bound for damnation and hell fire.
Should I quit?

P.S. They came and tore down all my
posters.
Why quit? What does the boss think
about this kind of harassment? Ted
FILM AT 11
Here is a list of moves I recently
learned. Dorkplant: Do an invert
wearing a Pee-Wee Herman mask.
Polish Air: Backside grind. Buttplant:
Do a street plant, go into a gymnast
and put the board on your butt (it's
a pain in the ass to land). Rusty
Soupcan: Stall an acid drop (hee
hee). Double Pleasure: Do an ollie
while reading Thrasher. Ridicule
Slide: Now here is a difficult trick!
While watching a poseur do a
railslide, yell out. "Your graphics are
scratched!" He'll jump off his board
and fall on his face to save the
graphics. Do all the tricks noted
above and consider yourself a
graduate of University of Silly
Skating. Skate fer fun.

BUT, SERIOUSLY, FOLKS...
I've always liked your mag, but
after reading the "I's Dotted With
Hearts" letter in the June issue!
realized what a great job all of you do!
With all the opportunities to become
a Teen Mag, you chose to stay the
same. Keep up the great work.

All those guys who write about bad
skate places out there in the U.S.
must stop complaining. We out here
in Holland have 280 days a year with
rain. So we can skate only about 80
days a year. Ninety percent of the
streets are filled with little stones in-
stead of concrete. And there is dog
crap all over the (Cont. on page 14)
