NOTES
MUSICAL CHAIRS The Red
Hot Chili Peppers and Anthony
Kiedes just parted ways, due to that
old devil personal differences." The
spit didn't seem too hairy, though.
The Peppers new singer is New
York Ron, from the band The
Smilin' Jack and he's at work put-
ling vocals on the third Chill Pep-
pers album at EM Studios. Tony
Alva recently got the boot from
transplanted Texan combo
Junkyard The last straw came
when he ignored some already
booked shows to fly off to Jamaica
with a girlfriend Nick Ferrari of The
Little Kings is filling in tomporari
ly.
Guitarist Rosie Flores played
her last show with the Screaming
Sirens at Raj's recently, Dave Alvin
has left X. Seems he and John Doe
exchanged "words" Exene walked
away, and instead of replacing Mr.,
Alvin, the X crew is just gonna stick
with Tony Gilkyson on guitar. Dave
is going to continue with his (former
sideline project, Dave Alvin and the
Allnighters T.SO.L. has been
working hard recording a follow-up
to last year's Lp, Revenge. Howard
Benson is producing again. Mean-
while, Mike Roach of T.S.O.L. pro-
duced the debut album by Hard as
Nails, Cheap as Dirt on Blackjack
Records. The Fiends have a new
album called Guy-nocology The
cover features many of Hollywood's
loveliest gals, and the songs, with
titles like "Battle Axe" and "The
Devil Wears High Heels," are
brilliantly ill. The Cruzados are in
the studio putting the finishing
touches or their next Lo for EMI. It
it's anything like their scream show
in LA recently, it'll be extremely hot.
Legal Weapon, (recently signed to
MCA) are taking a four month hiatus
from live shows to begin recording
their debut album with that label.
Best wishes to the Weapon's Kat
and Brian, who recently lost every-
thing they owned, in a house
fire.. Pirates of Venus (leaturing
Rats' Ass from Tales of Terror and
members of Decry and Verbal
Abuse) have just moved to L.A. and
are playing everywhere, totally
smoking! They play a scrawl that
sounds like the Stones meet
Motorhead, get drunk and roll on
the floor. Texacala Jones (of
Horseheads fame) debuted her new
band Texorcism although the
Horseheads are still playing around.
Steve Olson has re-joined the
Joneses, and they were last seen
(with Skatemaster Tate and two
long, tall model-types) driving off into
the sunset of Las Vegas to make a
Joneses video. ROCKIN' THE
DOG Disaster strikes twice. Imagine
warm sunny day a trip to the
Blood Bowl and a four-man session.
It had fun written all over it until Mr.
James Hetfield of Metallica came
out of a blue tile run. lost his.
balance, fell and cracked his arm in
two, even with a wrist guard on. Now
James has metal plates in his arm
for a year and a half. It was the same
arm he broke previously while on
sour. This incident delays the writing
of Metallica's fourth Lp until James
gets a guitar cast. The Misfits,
Samhain, Danzig? Yes, that's right.)
the new band is called Danzig. It
has been signed to Def Jam, should
be produced by Rick Rubin and will
feature a cover of Elvis Presley's
Trouble." Danzig still finds Glenn
on vocals and Eerie Von on bass
and features ace skin man Chuck
Biscuits on drums. And the comic
book will still come out, as will the
Misfits box set and Enter At Your
Own Risk-Misfits Hits Lp, for which
many wait in anticipation. Also in the
works are plans for the Misfits 2
CD On a different note, but still
on the subject of the Misfits, Glenn
Danzig (along with many others) is
in hot pursuit, of bootleggers of
Misfits t-shirts and parapher
nolia.
Word on the street from
Kevin Seconds himself is that 7
Seconds will probably embark on
their last tour this summer, and the
band may change their name and
go in a different direction. Kevin
claims they have enough material
for two albums, but he's not sure yet a
what they will do with it. Also from
the Positive Force stable, watch for
hot releases by Token Entry and the
Pagan Bables. New York speed
metallers Leeway now featuring ex-
members of Agnostic Front, Cause
for Alarm and The Cro-Mags, have
signed to Profile Watch for a rip roar
ing Lp soon. Death and gothic
rockers watch for releases by Chris
tian Death, a box set and a video.
Dead Can Dance is releasing their
3rd Lp. Rumor has it the the Sisters
of Mercy are back together and that
a 7" and an Lp may be on the way.
That's probably not all for now, but
that's all we got. Late.
