DO UNTO OTHERS, BEFORE...
Our school had a law enforcement
orientation last year. The speakers
told us that cops are supposed to
treat people the same way people
treat them. I decided to test this out.
A couple of weeks ago a cop stopped
me while I was skating. I was nice to
him and not only was he nice back,
but he asked if he could watch me
for a couple of minutes. I have tried
being nice to cops ever since and
they let me off every time. Give it a
try, it works.

I was wondering why you guys
always run out of mags. Every time
I try to buy one, the stores are always
out. If you ask me, I'm getting sick
of having to look in hundreds of
stores. You guys need to find some
way to get your mags out faster. I sure
hope you do it soon.

BITE THE HAND
For all you people who skate a
style without a name-the street style
of fingerflips, flips, twists and
rotations-here's the name: Dogbite!

STRIFE IN LIFE?
I have been a very enthusiastic
skateboarding parent for the past 10
to 12 years. I've seen skaters from
California to Alabama. I've supported
skateboarding both financially and
emotionally-even to the point of
having two ramps in my backyard.
However, I must tell you I'm very
offended by the image Thrasher is
portraying to the skaters, an image
of blatant negativity. Over half of the
magazine is anti-religious and even
anti-life, with no social redeeming
factors whatsoever.
For an individual to stand on a
piece of wood with wheels under it
and do all the intricate moves a skater
must do takes tremendous "life" and
your magazine, with it's advertise-
ments and board graphics, portrays
death.
You have an excellent avenue for
producing a positive influence on the
sport of skateboarding. Instead,
though, you are degrading and tear-
ing down any good image the sport
may want to achieve.
I trust the editors, publishers and
writers of Thrasher will consider what
I've said in this letter. Skateboarders
are a great group of people and
skateboarding is a great sport, and
Thrasher can make it even better.

Okay, let's give it a try. "We went up
to the half-pipe and enlightened the
soft transitions with a beautiful ses-
sion that included heavenly airs but
soft grinds, for we didn't want to scuff
the Mickey Mouse graphics on the
underside of our boards. How's that?

THINK AGAIN
This letter is to all you punks that
write letters to brag about getting
kicked out of your houses because.
of your hair, your music, your clothes
and skating. I used to think that, too,
until I was court-ordered to a psych-
iatric institution last summer. After
three months of bullshit, I learned my
parents are humans, too. I talk to
them a lot, and we're pretty good
friends now. They now let me look
whatever the hell way I want to look,
listen to whatever the hell I want to,
they support skating, and support my
artwork. It's just a start, but maybe
someday we'll all live in a world of
peace.
CRAZY ABOUT IT
Craig
Ruidoso, NM
Right now I'm in a mental facility
and I'm not allowed to skate. I would
say I'm going insane without my
skate, but I guess being here means
I already am. But when I opened up
that January issue it was just like be-
ing back on my board with those se-
quences. You guys are doing a great
job in S.F. Keep it up.
