GO TO BAGDAD, HANG A LEFT
I'm writing from a place called
Bahrain. Not many people here
skate, but the ones who do skate hard
and fast! There are about 35 skaters
out of 3,000,000 people. It's real hot
here, so it takes a real skater to want
to skate in this heat. Some of you
guys got it lucky!

RAMP RAP
Me and a few guys around the
local ramp got together and rapped
about how most decks have anti-
religious graphics and we were
wondering if the bones and undead
spirits have any certain meaning
behind them. All of the boards are
super cool, we just wanted to know
if it stood for anything.
TELL IT! TELL IT!

I am appalled by your article in the
August issue concerning Pat Robert-
son. Not only is the anti-Christian
propaganda ridiculous, but it is com-
pletely out of place in a skateboar-
ding magazine. I might further add
that I in no way appreciate the cuss
words and other suggestive material
within your magazine. Because of
this material, though we are in-
terested in skateboarding, we will not
allow this magazine in our house.

YOU CAN'T JUDGE A BOY BY
HIS BOARD
Don't you have any class? My son
loves your magazine. However, I was
really disgusted after looking at your
interview with Mark Gonzales in your
September '86 issue. Mark claimed
to be against drugs, raunchy sex, etc.
However, his personalized boards
(showing a woman's body-legs
spread-front view-and a naked
male "jacking off." etc-give no
negative statements about these
subjects and to anyone seeing the
boards, they surely would figure
drugs, sex, etc. were "his thing." I
mean, "LUST IS A MUST" kinda
says it all, don't you think?
Anyway, the point I'm trying to
R
make is, as a magazine that is mainly
appealing to the youth, you have a
responsibility to encourage
wholesomeness, morality, etc. Mark
Gonzales sounded like a kid whose
ideals are high but who doesn't know
how to express them. You, however,
unless your magazine is totally edited
and written by youngsters, have no
excuse for putting that "crud" in this
magazine. I'm encouraging you to re-
evaluate the standards you've set for
your magazine.

PASSING PRAYER
This skater's prayer was written to
a stepson from his stepfather. I
thought it was really nice and should
be shared with other skaters.
May your board never warp,
May your trucks never break,
And may your Bones roll on forever

AMMUSICIAN
I am writing in response to the
dude with a mohawk who got kicked
out of his house because he listens
to hardcore like the Sex Pistols and
DK's. Well, I would kick you out, too,
if you thought the D.K's and Sex
Pistols were hardcore. My God, dude,
where's your sense of music?
