THE G-TURN
By Ray Meyer
1. Start by rolling forward with a good
amount of speed. Place your leading foot
just over the front truck and your rear foot
on the tail. Begin to lift your rear truck off
the ground as you lean forward and
frontside. Position your point of balance
over the front truck and the arch of your
leading foot.
2. Continue leaning into a frontside nose-
wheelie carve and cruise past the on-look-
ers. Keep your arms akimbo and extended
away from your torso for balance. You
must realize that your leading arm is an
essential factor in learning the delicate ba-
lance needed for this trick.
3. As your momentum begins to slow
down it is important to stay in control; the
crowd is amazed at this point.
4. Follow through on your carve with a
slight rotation.
5. Keep it flowing, keep your weight cen-
tered over the front truck. Remember,
people are watching you.
6. This is it. Prepare to set your rear truck
down after you've twisted at least 180°.
Complete the trick feeling satisfied. The
spectators are stoked. Now don't be late
for dinner
Note: If you're having a hard time with this
trick, don't give up. Study th e photos on
this page and don't rush it. After you have
the basic G-turn down, try it backside, on
one wheel, or finish it up with a couple of
360's.
