BACK FROM THE DEAD ETC.
(Or just on his way again.) The much
travelled and even more employed Steve
Rocco is now alleged to be the promotions
man for mega-manufacturer Venture. For
the record, his replacement at Vision, the
always in-transit Britt Parrot, claims to be
retiring and (yes again) returning to the
Midwest. Talking more records, the legend-
ary Terry Nails, is playing on the new
Pointer Sisters album, on which they are
recording at least one of his songs. Report-
edly also in the works with Warren Billen
is a Nails-inspired ditty with Suzette
Charles and Richard Petty. Listen for
Nails' soundtrack in Dirty Laundry, the
movie, or see Terry with Dynasty actress
Kathleen Beller in the photo spread for
the National Enquirer.

There once was a cherry 1959 Cadillac.
Among other things, it belonged to Louis
B. Dorfman of Vision/Sims fame. One
night, over a year ago, L.B.D. left the car
in the driveway of a friend. It was never
seen again, although a photograph of it
sinking in the ocean did appear in a G &
Sadvertisement in Surferragazine. (Larry
Gordon and Floyd Smith are said to never
have seen the car.) Even stranger was the
fact that the much spoken of missing sunk
en car surfaced in the Oceanside Police
impound recently, registered to two
different "owners" who had never even
heard of each other. (For that matter, police
reported that neither had seen the car in
months, either) The crimes the Cad was
involved in are being kept quiet pending
the big court case. While suspects remain
in custody, somehow a man O.PD. sources
identify as Lawrence Balma is now said
to be in posession of the crime vehicle.
QUESTION ONE is now Mr. Lawrence not
the legendary Tracker Larry?
QUESTION TWO How does G.S.D. fit into
all of this? Was it not his case of theatrical
makeup police found in the trunk alongside
a large rusted sheet metal letter? Further
more, is it true that Davis showed up at a
State of California Board of Prisons
meeting wearing his customary skeleton

At the most recent "last contest at Del
Mar" just why were certain promoters so
intent on denying access to many of the
sport's past and present greats? Among
those turned away were Mr. Skip Engblom,
Henry Hester, Pine, Andrecht, Cash
McAnles and Dan Bearer. We think slalom
ace Bob Skoldberg and world champion
Bruce Logan finally managed to talk their
way in, All we can say is that anyone so
dry that they would deny those individuals
who created the sport, deserve massive
skate re-education.
MORE CRIMES, MORE PUNISHMENTS
The real Scott Foss alleged down in the
S.J. slammer for uncorking the Nova. Talk
of a 110 chase through residential units and
an illegal left turn while driving by Braille
are the typical version. Perhaps Foss was
late for a Bones Brigade video shoot?
Banned for life, a month or a contest or
whatever comes first, are Steve Steadham
and Eddie Reategul. The NSA powers
have allegedly decreed that the two are in
violation of some sacred rules. (We heard
board lossing, but it might even be
something far less serious.) Don't watch for
these reprimanded types at the NSA

Billy Ruff, Rodney Mullen and Rob
Roscoph? are all wearing three plastic
watches on each wrist. Can this be the
aftermath of the recent New York Swatch
Tour?

where Mike McGill pulled off three
McTwists in sequence and managed to get
second place, is it true that the promoter
of said event offered to mail him a check.

buck purse pro contest in tandem with a
major rock fest?

he penetrate the media morass surround-
ing the Statue of Liberty unveiling?
Has G&Sfounder Larry Gordon been
spending 11 hours plus a day on the
shipping docks? Did Masi, son-in-law of
L.G., dislocate his shoulder while secretly
testing an ultralight composite deck? Are
Skoldberg and Mike Gordon involved?
EXECUTIVE VET TRAVELLER DEPT.
Consider the case of Dan Wilkes, While
rushing to catch a Texas bound plane,
model man Wilkes was stopped by security
types and denied boarding priveledges due
to the presence of his companion, a large
8 pet scorpion. The scorpion, who bears
an eerie resemblance to Don Singer, was
reportedly nonplused. Wilkes flew off sans
scorpion, but the Ridgeman Express
Mailed it down home.
SACTO CONTEST
For years people have talked of having
a neutral contest on a neutral site. Well,
the Go Skate types managed to do it. They
created a ramp in front of thousands of
crazed skatefans and then with no prior
practice put the top ams and pros to work
Who won is elsewhere, but Cab, McGill,
Hosol, Lance and Gator all came through
despite the adds. Paul Schmitt kept
muttering things about cycloids, Police
searched in vain for empty beer bottles.
Randy Kalen approached new levels of
public aggression as the official announcer.
Most pros refrained from lapping the
adjacent banked fairgrounds speedway
track. Some didn't and their exploits are
legendary.
GULF SHORE-OUTLAWED ON
BOARDWALK
Bill Grimes stood up at Gulf Shores City
Council meeting and offered up the Mobile
Pro/Am ramp in conjunction with the
opening of a new Hot Tropics retail outlet.
As soon as the mayor says go, Tim Payne.
"fastest hammer in the South," will be on it
and bingo, Gulf Shores, Alabama will have
an acre of lit, fenced, city park surrounding
a killer half. Waydagobill!
LOOSE TALK DEPT.
In a recent beach front interview, former
top dog slalom racer, Jon Hutson, flatly
stated. "Goldman went faster, but if anyone
out there tries to beat my speed record. I'll
go out and put it out of sight." Well
boys?...It should be pointed out that Hut
said this while holding a surfboard. Also his
mark is still listed in the Guiness Book of
World Records. Check it out, beat him out.
