A SKATER-OWNED COMPANY
It's been almost a decade since I last appeared in one of my own ads and it'll probably be ten more years before I do it again.
It's finally time for me to make a personal statement to the world and this is it. My company's been selling skateboards and
accessories non-stop for longer than almost every company on Earth. Nearly all of the "Big Brand Names" in this sport come
from California and nearly all started into the business of skateboarding after we'd been doing it for years. The fact that we're
not from the skate media capital of the world is one of the reasons my team riders photos aren't plastered all over the pages of
every issue of every magazine. We're definitely not "press darlings" because we've chosen to play the game on our own
terms, and, for the most part, on our own turf. We don't fly to California every month to have our photos taken. We just skate.
We were here before and we will be here after. We live it. We breathe it. We skate it.
After nearly 23 years of riding skateboards, I still have as much fun today as I did when I started back in 1963. The
accompanying photos were taken in the '80's and clearly illustrate that my involvement goes beyond just designing and
selling Walker Skateboards. After extensive research and a lot of help from Walker team riders around the country, our 1986
line of decks and wheels represent our best effort to date. Shapes based on function... from a skater's point of view. Later,
