At 18:35 hours two Salt River
Police Dept. cars arrived. The
situation at this time looked like a
riot could break out at any time.
Before the officers got out of their
cars, the crowd started making
comments. Some were, "Watch
out, the men in blue are here," and
some called them "Pigs. "As soon
as the officers got out of their cars,
a large portion of the crowd
disbanded immediately to C-lot
where they congregated around
one vehicle in particular
This vehicle had a male subject
throwing skateboard paraphernalia
into the crowd of skateboard
enthusiasts, creating what could be
described as a "shark feeding-
frenzy." A rough scuffle between
three individuals was broken up by
this officer and SP-1. While
attempting to break up the three
pugilists, SP-1 was kicked in the
upper area of his right leg (officer
did not require medical attention).
The three all had a hold on a single
skateboard and would not let go.
The situation was resolved by SP-1
picking a number which the three
tried to guess, the closer receiving
the skateboard.
All officers dispersed
throughout the crowd
and encouraged them
to leave immediately
They did so.
Brian Brannon and
some of his friends began
cleaning the area under
supervision of Security
Several of the vehicles
owned by band members
were driven over the lawn.
Vehicle with license number
AXG-228 was confronted.
HOW BOBOBA SAW IT
Scottsdale Community
College's Skate Club is called
the Board of Boards, or BOB. Our
ex-faculty advisor, who never
showed is BOB Mugford. BOB's
vice-president is BOB DIDimizio.
The contest was to collect funds to
build a Bowl of BOB, a pool made
exclusively for skateboarders. We
wish to name it the Bowl of Board of
Boards, or BOBOB. We hope you'll
support us and join in BOB HOPE.
If it hadn't been for SCC's
dress-up cops, the whole dang
thang woulda only run a bit late. But
due to them, there was no music
from Racer X or All Wrong, a gnarly
band who had driven from
Huntington Beach, CA. However,
the Rundles did jam.
To me, the contest didn't end with
the second fire. It ended about ten
minutes later when Bob Schmeltzer
was taking his final run. The crowd
had invaded his space, because
the course had become a sticker-
toss area. He skated anyway and
pulled a beautiful foot-plant (for
a foot-plant) which knocked down
a quarterpipe donated by Cheap-
skates amidst a mighty muckus of
unruly and uncontrolled kids having
a blast
Thanks to Cheapskate, Sidewalk
Surfer, Powell, Tracker, Zorlac and
JFA for prizes.
