longest, freestyle demos of all time.

A very large turn-out for the slalom competition,
We decided to come back the next
morning.
Stefan, an old-time skater, was our host
for the night. Shane's cassette collection
I drove this fan of disco music wild. He
stayed up all night to record all the tapes
that Shane had.
After a healthy breakfast, Shane free-
styled while we brought some broomsticks
to clean the pool. When we came back we
saw Shane in the middle of a large crowd.
He was driving them insane.
The site of the pool during daylight was
unbelievable and soon we were cleaning
the area with broomsticks. The pool turned
out to be perfect.
When I took a picture from the top of a
five-story house, a man wanted to call the
police. Driven by this fact and Shane's long-
ing for his left behind lady, we drove back
to Prague.
That evening, we met the Prague skaters
in a pub and goofed around until late in the
morning. In the end we skated through the
streets of Prague and sessioned a Lenin
monument, which was highly forbidden.
Our plans for the next day were to do some
sightseeing in Prague's inner-city. Shane
was very happy, for he was together with
his infamous lady again. He was so happy
that we lost them. We decided to go to the
Prague ramp to again meet the locals from
last night.
The ramp turned out to be the worst ramp
in existance, with a 9 foot transition, leading
to vert, followed by an eighty degree exten-
sion (3 feet). All I could do on that ramp
was rock 'n roll and grind. And that, believe
me, was already a lot. Shane and his friend.
turned up at the ramp site too, because he
and I had an appointment with a sports
reporter who would be interviewing us.
We demoed freestyle and streetskating
for many cameras and made plans for a
party at a skater's house. The party showed
how wild these Czechoslovakians are.
They drank beer out of buckets and gener
ally destroyed the room. The father of the
skater who threw the party found no words
for such disorderly behavior. We were all
asked out.
This was to be Shane's and my last night
in Czechoslovakia. We packed all our stuff
for the flight the next day and went to bed.
real early. The next morning saw Shane all
depressed because he had to leave his girl
behind. All of the skaters accompanied us
to the plane. My flight was first. As I walked
across the airfield to my plane all of them
were waving 'bye-bye'. I sat in the plane
and recalled what had happened. A dream
of mine had come true. I had visited
Czechoslovakia by skate and experienced
this Eastern block country first hand. I
thought of all the days I had spent there
without one second of boredom. I'd like to
thank the skaters of Czechoslovakia, expe-
cially Peter Kiss and Ludek Vasa, for mak-
ing this tour possible and for making my
stay such a pleasant one. I'll be back at a
later date... goodbye, or as they say,
"AHOII".
