SKATE ROCK VOL. III
Wild Riders of Boards
THRASHER
COLLECTION
fully played pleasure hits. Robert
Smith's lyrical content is moody
with a sullen approach to themes,
all sort of tracing a diagram to-
wards Smith and the frustration or
happiness of love. The writing is ex-
cellent and shines amongst the
music. Pushing for radio airplay
with songs like "In Between Days
and "Close to Me," the Cure could
have another hit on their hands, but
it's songs like "A Night Like This
that features the quality of a truly
delightful smash hit with its easy
appeal and soothing chords. Con
tinuous play gets the mind addicted
to the smooth flow of songs like
"Sinking," "Kyoto Song," "Push,"
"Screw" and "Six Different Ways."
By far a very enjoyable Lp's worth
of charm, this has enlightening ap-
peal to non-Cure fans as well and
should open up the market to the
public eye to finally take notice of
the Cure. The Head On The Door is
easily one of the finest albums of
1985. The Cure deliver a good
dose.
All these skaters walking around
with these half skateboards, what's
going on? What? The new Skate
Rock Lp is shaped like the nose of
one of "Street Scott's' deck of de-
struction, what a wild idea. The re-
cord fell out of one, so it got slap-
ped onto the local turntable and the
madness erupted. Incredible slash-
ing mahyem with lots of pure
energy combusted to explode upon
each play. Raw, unforgiving and
solid in deliverance, this ensemble
of seventeen vicious grinds chalks
up a mean rotation of speed,
power metallic kerranging,
bulldozing energy and one hell of a
sound track for that always ever in-
tense session, on or off. Features
plenty of new tracks from the likes
of Corrosion of Conformity, Sep-
tic Death, Beyond Possession,
Christ On Parade, The Accused
plus driving stuff from Gang
Green, Slam, The Boneless Ones
and No Rules. With this combina-
tion, it will effect the airwaves in a
blasting fever, bringing a cold
sweat to all who listen. Lots of
music, lots of fun, a good compila-
tion for all in any league. It's here,
it's now, it's time-catch the sonic
air inside the brain and enjoy. A
round of applause to Mr. B. "Com-
pile It Baby" Ware for slapping this
puppy all together

Ramones-ish, garage rock but with
a shoo-bop touch... Two bands from
Iceland that have current releases
out: LIF and KUKL, both of which
should be owned. KUKL's 7" has
doomy, moody overtones on driving
impassioned music and vocals.
LIF's 12" is eerie, mystical and darkly
effective, oozing off the stereo and
into your ears.
