After all the ASPO series, which I
ripped right through, the Gold Cup
Series started. In my first big
contest of the series, I jelled
completely. I was riding for Powell/
Peralta back then, uh, 1981. Micke
Alba got first, and I ate shit right
before my run. I slammed on my
elbow. My first Pro/Am contest
Then at Big 'O', I threw up the night
before the contest. I was so
nervous. I practiced for three days,
and couldn't skate the thing at all. I
didn't know what to do. Then Friday
pight threw up, and the next time
was sipping Al
started ripping I got
phthi place, and I was stoked. The
biggest inspiration in skaling was
when Ted Tarebone came down x
Marina Loquidn't even skate the
pool, and he took pictures of mei

board, Powell wheels and Tracker

Segling That was like my goal of
history. That's it right theroondas
up riding for Dogtown Skates, then
one day Mike Smith came up to me
at the skatepark and told me, "Hey
man, didn't you hear? They went
fuckin out of business dude. I went,
"What?" Then he goes, "I'm riding
for Madrid now.", and I said,
"What!?" I never talked to them. I
just rode anything I felt like. I rode
on a Mini-Duane Peter's, a Tracker
board...that's when I went to
Winchester and got a Tracker ad.
Then Sims said, "Hey, we'll give you
your own model." And I said, "For
sure. Killer. Tom Sims. I talked to
Tom Sims. Next thing I know they
say Tom Sims sold his company to
Brad Dorfman. Right when I had my
prototype. Now I had to wait three
months before it got started again.
What does skateboarding hold
today for Christian Hosol?
Today it means a whole 'nother
story, now that I'm thinking of my
new company. I gotta work now,
and I'm only seventeen. Just turned
seventeen in October. It's like, I'm
still young, I've got to finish
school...my second goal, to have
my own company, Hosoi Skates. I
rode for Alva Skates. Homeboy had
no riders, then I rode for ALVA, that
was happenin'. I felt so happenin'. I
always wanted to skate for T.A.
anyway. I skated for him a long time
want to be able to treat

What about Injuries?
Ive had one bad injury, and that
all I've had Ive hitot
knocked out of me,
The rac injury was the broken arm in
Nebraska, and Holmes, that was
the most radicalist feeling, no pair
had no pain. It was just tweaked t
felt like it was deformed. I looked at
it, and it didn't look like that's where
my arm was. I knew there was
something wrong.
What do you think personally?
What are your thoughts about
alot of things, what are the things
you think about?
I think alot about the future, and
how I'm gonna be growin' up.
Because life is short.
What are your priorities in life?
To grow up having alot of fun. Not
doin' something just to be doin'
something. To be goin' out and
having a good time with alot of
people. Not be so alone.

Yeah. Dancing is happening
Dancing is like one of the next best
things to skateboarding

With girls.
What happens?
You meet girls there. That's
where alot of girls have alot of
brains. You can tell almost by the
way they dance. But some girls
don't dance, and they're still cool.
But I like a girl that knows how to
dance.

break dance, and we used to
practice for commericials, me and a
friend of mine, Simon, and Di
McClure. We all started break
dancin' at once. That's whent had a
slump in my skating, for a short
period of sime. A slump,
thought I was going downhill for
some reason.
What are you concerned about?
Goin' to war.
What message would you like to
purvey to the world?
Don't fuck people over, and they
won't fuck you over. Be cool to other
people that are being cool to you.
Don't judge people by the way they
appear. Ripping-off is the worst
thing, I've never done anything to
rip-off anybody. I can feel proud of it.
and I can feel good about myself
instead of having all this remorse,
and guilt trips hangin' on me.
Skating just helps you get aggro.
You feel aggro and then you ac-
complish something. Skating. It's
just radical cause you're on four
wheels and you're just rolling with
nothing holding you back. Nothing
holding you to the board, it's all you
and your control.
That's your message to the

Use all your space.
When you want to do something,
just reach out and do it, cause life is
short. In skateboarding, do it when
you're young. If you wanna be good,
