bad way while demoing over in France. We

HOT FLASH!
Asked if he thought there were enough
skaters to reopen the Surf N Turf skatepark
in Milwaukee, Marty Beaudoin replied
#@"&" YES!! to the owner of that facility.
We'll keep you posted on that situation.
Meanwhile the skate scene in Mil-'Skate-
ee is flourishing with a few new ramps.)
Marty gets a Mofo original T-shirt for that
tid bit of info.
FRAT'S RIGHT
The flyer proclaimed: "Beyond gnarly."
48-hours of ripping. teating, blazinhg.
shredding: and it was. We're talking' 'bout
the Thrash-A-Thon for the American Heart
Association sponsored by the crew at
Lambda Chi Alpha on the Cal Poly campus.
Skate frat Eric Horn, coordinator of the
event, which started at midnight on
November 7 and ended two days later at
midnight on November 7 and ended two
days later at midnight Nov. 9, pronounced
the benefit a total success. Crowds peaked
at 4-5,000 spectators during key lunch hour
demos by the Marid team of Marty
Jiminez, Beau Brown, Bob Schmelzer
and Steve Douglas. Other skaters in-
cluded locals Jack Smith, Dave Kline and
Bob Denike. Best of all: over $3,000 was
raised by the skaters for the AHA. Every-
body stayed on for the Frat, party Sat. night
with Bob Denike and the Patterson's pro-
viding live entertainment. Beau's comment
"Stay away from the cookies."
CLOWNING AROUND
Jeff Newton and the Dallasonians
played host to a killer Pro/Am which was
won by Jeff "said he was never going to fall
again, and hasn't" Phillips and Joe
Johnson respectively. Hosol and Cabal-
lero rounded out the pro 1-2-3. Tony Hawk
was there and got...well...burned by the
judging, as he blazed but didn't even make
the eight cut.
Elsewhere, Black Flag was in Dallas
that night for a show where naturally more
than a few skaters showed up. It seems
that Henry Rollins got pissed at one little
kid in the audience who was taunting and
dove after him. Henry bopped the kid
around until Craig Johnson moved in to
assist and talk it out. Cooler heads pre-
vailed.
SAY IT AIN'T SO JOE
The Lopes family ramp has been given
its fourth life with a new coat of masonite
and an additional 8 inches of vert. All this
just in time to host a...BMX CONTEST!
ON BOAR
Well, more like a photo session for Bob
Osborne's "BMX Action" mag. Some of the
top hotties showed to blaze upwards of 8
feet of air over the cope while Joe skated in
between heats. If you think skaters slam
hard go see vertical BMX. Crotchbusters.
Local skate luminaries, Bryce Kanights,
Don Fisher, Street Scott, KT and Ffej
were there to witness. As for Joe, the little
skate scammer pockets 500 clams for let-
ting them use his ramp. Results: Hot shoe,
Eddie Fiola won it big but not without a
push from local skater-biker, Curb Dog.
Dave Vanderspek. Also seen pedaling
around the ramp: former rad roller skater,
Fred Blood.

Mile High Mike Chantry says the Tahoe
ramp is in top winter condition. Despite
some heavy early snow fall the skating
goes on. MC is talking up a snowboard
skateboard jamboree in mid-January when
he's sure the sun will be blazing for a few
days. Wax your boards and change your
bearings and head for the hills.
