clippers. We didn't go and see the
vultures still sucking off of him, even
in death (according to Negative
Approach band from Detroit-for
three bucks you could talk to one of
his bodyguards. Shit, for a little
more, you could go out (die) on the
same shit he did). We hung out,
loaded the equipment in, called
Rabbitman in S.F. (who never got
back to us with the vital ramp phone
numbers) and finally went for a
"curtain call (Sunset) street ses-
sion. We didn't find much except for
a few speed bumps to hop, and a
loading dock to "acid drop." We
cruised some soul arches (a name-
less state of being, not to be con-
fused with a trick), thrusters, and
fong low carves. Well, I got to
shower at a girl's house (who works
on a real live riverboat on the
Mississippi) and we spit.
BATON ROUGE, LA.
We pulled into Baton Rouge early
enough to get some parts and take
care of the bus. Baton Rouge is
humid and when the bus isn't
moving it gets damn hot inside. Our
mechanic did a routine oil change
and replaced a bearing inside the
twin back wheels (not routine). It
was real similar to a skateboard,
except everything was way bigger.
A couple of skaters came and
picked us up for showers and
skating. Baton Rouge is real humid,
a swampy bayou country with nice
homes carved out of the trees. The
skaters took us to the "chicken
banks (located conveniently behind
a chicken joint) and we sessioned
the downhill sloped bank with the
locals. They were into heavy
footplants (footplants through the
leg, we decided in Albuquerque to
call it, "Hanes" plants). One guy did
this bio "blaster" thing. He'd skate
up to this 10' drop and jump into an
acid-drop' without stopping or
losing speed. Kind of like a Hosoi
thing, but starting off riding at full
speed.
The next day was our day off
(with another one maybe to follow,
we found out), so we drove into
Florida through Mississippi and
Alabama. We got hit by a couple of
raging "sun showers" (rain on a
clear sunny day) and got a hotel in
Pensacola, Florida. Florida is real
big too. Everything seems far apart;
or maybe it's just 'cuz I'm awake.
GAINESVILLE, FL
Gainesville is in the central part of
Florida (not by the beach, or the
gulf). This was probably the sketch-
iest day we've had. First off, the
show got cancelled. We decided to
go anyway to maybe play a party or
sleep, or somethin'. We stayed most
of the evening at a local's house
trying to get something going.
Monty Nolder lived nearby and has
a killer halfpipe, but we couldn't get
a ride. Someone told me Rodney
Mullen lives here too, but I didn't get
to see him. The party was thrown
together, the cops came and we
didn't get to play. What a nightmare.
MIAMI, FL.
We pulled in early one Friday to
find ourselves face to face with the

Atlantic ocean. The show was a two
day deal at a hotel (on the beach!)
nestled between two more modern
highrises. Our place came to be
known as the "Anarchy Hotel,"
mostly due to the graffiti visible from
the beach. We didn't really do much
except eat, streetskate and hang
out on the beach (flat, absolutely no
waves). The show was a lil'-sketchy
due to drum parts being missing
(Bam plays double bass, and the
stuff was impossible to borrow), but
we met some cool locals who gave
us a place to stay and took us
skating (thanx Dennis and Stacy).
I hate waking up when I don't
know where I am. It happens a lot.
After a raging omelette we hit the
road for Western Union (for money),
the drumstore, and finally, probably
the best ramp we've skated yet! The
ramp was built by a band called
"Cambodia," and is called
"Cambodia lil" (the first two got
torched) and skaters from all over
were there to session. The ramp
measures 9' high, 1' vert, 24' wide,
with plenty of flat bottom and a
channel (it's also painted blood red
with a removable plastic tarp for the
rain, which we still don't under-
stand.) After the session we playec
our second Miami show and headec
upstairs to party (we had our own
floor complete with elevator). The
next day I woke up, much too early
to find two cop cars and a tow truck
surrounding our bus. We parked in a
loading zone in front of our hotel sc
we could load our equipment and
the cops wanted $50 cash not to
take it away. What a scam. We
ended up paying just to avoid the
persistent cop hassle and threat of
arrest. Our mechanic secretly
loosened a fitting and convinced all
present that the tow truck damaged
our radiator. We went to the towing
company, argued them out of
paying the ticket and ten bucks
(we're still 40 short), and somehow
the brakelines to a couple of tow
trucks got cut. I wonder how, and
why?
ORLANDO, FL.
After the Pirate/towing incident I
slept until the gig. We couldn't find
the place and wasted all of our skate
time. Apparently a lot of people
couldn't find it, so we missed out on
some good ramps locally, and Kona
in Jacksonville. The show was "way
fun, with good local bands. One
band, "Damage," had those 'star
wars organ-guitars. Before you go.
on about pussy-organ-bands,
these guys wailed hardcore without
distortion boxes to hide behind, and
the drummer and singer blazed.
Body Count' blazed some adreno-
thrash and everyone raged, con-
torted and seemed to have a good
time. We said goodbye to the
Florida leg of our tour and are
presently heading towards Atlanta,
GA. Hopefully more bands will go to
Florida. The people drive there from
all around (when's the last time your
band tripped hundreds of miles for a
show?) and there's plenty of skating.
ATLANTA, GA.
Well now I've gone and done it;
gotten myself into an adjective war.
