            SWITZERLAND
I have sent you a picture from our ramp
in Zurich, just to say that skating is well
over here in Switzerland. The ramp has
3.5m flat bottom (11 foot) and one foot
vertical. We have different pipes around
Zurich, but this is one of the best. Skaters,
when you're traveling to Switzerland, don't
forget to stop in Zurich for hot ripping.
P.S. I hope you can print this in your Mag
so the people can see that skating is hot
over here. Keep up the good work and best
wishes from Switzerland.

MAINE
I'm writing to tell you about Maine. Greg
and I have been on a board for almost six
years now, street skating and freestyle.
Now we have a new ramp, 'about time!
This ramp isn't finished yet because of
money, but we ride what we have. We can't
believe skating almost died. We've been
riding for about a month now and can't get
enough in on our ramp. It's 12' wide, 30
feet long, 8' right now, soon 9' high and 10
of flat bottom. Right now I'm taking the
plywood off for winter, but by Spring there
will be two layer platforms, so if there's
anybody around Maine, look us up.

SEATTLE, WA
Hello, I'm writing to inform the world
about the Seattle skate scene. It's wet. The
Issigua ramp on Cougar Mountain is very
functional. The boys are rising in their vert
abilities. New moves are very common on
the fresh masonite.
The caveman banks got busted after
several years of skating. Steve, Rob and
another were riding on a Wednesday night
and a policeman came up. The officer
informed them to never ride the banks
again, something about gas being
siphoned in the immediate area. The
police often watched the late night
sessions over the past years; they no
longer receive that privilege.
New skaters are coming out of the mud.
In a year we will have several fourth
generation ramps to add to the present
twenty or more.
Freestylers are few and far in between.
The new skate rag B.O.B. will soon be out.
Splui Numa rips, that band is way hot at the
Metropolis, interview them if you can, their
music is better.
It's time to skate and my garage is
always dry. Until next time, later.

TIBURON, CA
I'm writing from Tiburon, California. I'm
16 and have been skating for a mere five
months. To make this to the point, a few
friends and I built a halfpipe in my friend
Chuck (Skwibwood) Woodward's back-
yard. We all had a blower time even though
it was only up for a month because the
town made us take it down for stupid
reasons. Here are a few pictures of me
after three weeks of any kind of vertical
skating. So I hope that "Hot Italian" from
Rome doesn't think he's rad for doing a
wimpy little kick turn even if it was after five
days. I was getting knarly grinds on my fifth
day of ramping. Thanx for hearing me out,
hopefully you won't think I'm negative and
narrowminded for saying that stuff. I doubt
you will even print one of the pics because
I said that. That's my problem I guess. Well
thanx a lot and keep up the excellent work
on your mag!

PT. MUGU, CA
Hey dudes of Thrasher, I'm a Pt. Mugu
skate punk stationed here in Pt. Mugu,
California. I recently got here in October
and the first day here I found (not to my
surprise) some skaters. They're locals on
the base and when I confronted my "Hosol
and the determination to rip, they took me
to their backyard and halfpipe. It was
shabby and kinky, nevertheless proved
that skating will not be buried in thought,
but lived out in reality for all to deal with,
like it or not! The base housing didn't
approve of it so we fought back, we won't
stand for skate harassment. We replyed it,
closed in the back ends and painted it. We
then had a petition routed in favor of the
halfpipe and that no harassments were
made to the neighbors. They (neighbors)
she took a look at it once more while the
thought it was cool and voted for us. We
took it to the base housing manager and
guys were in school and I was at work. The
the reply made the halfpipe smoother
housing approved of it and skating was in
without kinks. This is phase I of halfpipe,
progress once again, not to mention that
phase II is in April, when the weather gets
choice again. It'll be 12' flat, 8' tans., 1'vert,
12 wide. Please send advice about the
phase II MSP halfpipe. The MSP skaters
Brett. I'm the only Navy skater here in Pt.
are: Vinnie Marrero, Todd & Robin
Mugu. Skating Cherry Hill (before) made
Sutherland, Mike Stanton, Howie lyles,
my practice pay off.
