formation. I seems that all the old people
here are catching an incurable disease
called "Gray hairs up your ass rash." I mean
wherever you go with your skate around
here they get pissed and call the pigs or
threaten to if you trespass on their property.

OK. This one definitely takes the cake.
Never had to find a cure for 'gray hairs
up the ass rash' before in my life, but I
have come across these symptoms. I re-
member one time in Palo Alto when KT
and I went to check out this pool. We
noticed a few of the neighbors getting a
little edgy when they saw these obvious
troublemakers pull up and get out wield-
ing those tools of destruction known as
skateboards. I'd say we skated no more
than two or three runs when sure
enough, here come the men in blue.
Well, they tried to hassle us. I simply
said that we were ignorant to the fact we
had been trespassing, but we were out-
of-towners and sorry we may have
caused an upset. The cop asked for our
names and I told him we were Jay
Adams and Tony Alva; he wrote the
names down in his little book and said
don't let me catch you here again; we
left.
The Point is that there is no cure for
G.H.U.Y.A.R. You just have to either
avoid that type altogether or learn to
deal with it accordingly.

I've been skating on and off for 4 years.
This year I'm really getting into it and punk.
My problem is that my parents want me to
play tennis instead of skating. I'm getting
crap grades and my skateboard is going to
get taken away (but don't worry, I have a
back-up skate that my parents don't know
about). Do you have any suggestions?

Sooner or later your parents will have
to learn that skating is a legitimate sport
and that you're going to keep skating no
matter what. Maybe you should take
them to a pool or ramp and show them
what it's all about. I don't think they're
wrong in wanting you to get an educa-
tion. But I don't think they should tell
you how to have fun either. This is just
something you'll have to work out with
your parents.
I'm sure they can't be that bad, can
they? Keep that back up skate hidden
so, you can continue thrashing right?
