ITEM: MADRID LONGBOARD, TRACKER TRUCKS,
CITY STREET WHEELS
Picture this: you're out cruising down a stretch and
you happen upon a bronzed Betty. You pull over and
then what do you do? You tell her, "Hop on bronze Betty
and let's go for a ride," that's what you do. Why do you
do it? Because you have a long board. Your Betty will
have plenty of room on this comfortable 9.5 inch wide
"Cadillac of Boards." The length of this cruiser allows for
walks along the deck.
The trucks we have on this showcase item are
Tracker Extracks. These trucks are a longstanding item.
on the skateboard truck market, which in itself explains
their popularity and durability. They work really well on
this long board with their light weight and good width be-
tween the wheels (5" hanger width). Speaking of
wheels, from Smoothill the Blue City Streets were our
choice for the long cruiser; these wheels are great for
street riding as they smooth the "Grit" of pavement and
asphalt. Their soft composition and good resiliency
allow for speedy travel and maximum traction.
ITEM: SANTA CRUZ SPECIAL-FEATURING:
DECK, INDEPENDENT 109's, ROAD RIDER OR
PARK RIDER WHEELS.
Here from Santa Cruz is a great package deal. The
Special is an old-style deck that has been painted and
screened to give it a new image. It's constructed of five
plys of American Maple pressed into a rocker configura-
tion, excellent for street thrashing. Somewhat narrow by
today's standards (8" at widest point), it stands to
reason that this board would be well suited as an excel-
lent beginners item.
One clincher on this low-priced stick is that it doesn't
have cheap, out-of-date trucks. Instead, it comes with
Independent 109's, these units combined with either
Road Riders, Park Riders or Rhythm wheels (wheels
may vary due to limited supplies) equal one first-rate
deal. This set-up handles well and is economically com-
fortable. It's inexpensive, but that doesn't mean its.
cheap.
