NEW JERSEY...
As the mother of an East Coast skater,
I'm here to tell you, skating is "alive and
well out here. My son was wiped out as
one by one the parks in our area closed
down, until all that was left was Cherry Hill
and a three-hour drive sometimes as
often as three times a week. And then
Cherry Hill closed.
He and his father built a small half-pipe
in our side yard. Little did we know it
would grow into what it is today, with
extensions, platforms and bowls. It is
where a great many of the diehards in
New Jersey come to skate.
On any given Saturday afternoon you
could come by our house and you would
know for sure that skating has not died
out in the East.

P.S. The answer to the Editor's
question, "Who's Jones?", in the De-
cember '81 issue is Jeff Jones, and he
does SHRED! He is sponsorod by Varif-
lex.
Dear Editor,
In response to your response, "Who's
Jones?", in the December edition of
THRASHER, I'd like to tell you a little bit
about him. His full name is Jeff Jones and
he rides for Variflex. He placed fourth in
last summer's Kona Contest in Jackson-
ville, and he's got one of the hottest
ramps in New Jersey (complete with a
bowl). But the best thing of all is that he's
a real fox! I know because I'm his
girlfriend!
Thanks,

P.S. I think he deserves a lot more
coverage!
When Moms AND girlfriends start
writing in, then it's time for some
coverage. So here's Jones, Jeff
Jones that is, shredding his own
ramp and at the Summer
Nationals at Kona.-Ed-
MISSOURI
Here are some pictures of my ramp. It's
a shreddable half-pipe. The bigger one
that I used to have is history now because
my neighbor moved and the real estate
agent had it destroyed. I've had the half-
pipe (pictured) for about two years. It was
just resheeted in May so it is in great
riding shape. You can really wail airs out
of it.
The name on the ramp is our team
name. The Nazi sign is there because
there used to be some Nazi-skaters but
they quit about a year ago. Steve Alba
can come out here and skate anytime.

Thrasher,
Your December issue came just in time.
The Boyz in Lancaster have to shred
inside for awhile due to a couple of
snowstorms. For the next few weeks we'll
be ripping in basements, garages, gyms,
and other snowless places so we can stay
in tune.
You guys should do an article totally on
East Coast skaters. With the death of
Cherry Hill we now thrive on ramps,
Golden Meadows and Overlooks swim-
ming pools and many rad banks. Enclosed
are some pics of my half-pipe. There are
many skaters in Lancaster, so if anybody
is in the area, look us up for a hot ses-
sion.
