THANKS DON 000000000000000000000000000
The Gold Cup was financed by
the skateboard industry and pro-
duced by Don Hoffman. It was a
monumental task from beginning
to end with hundreds of things to

effort by throwing a little get-
together at the neighborhood
food establishment for the purpose
of passing out the money to the

Being the correspondent at

Eddie put on a show of consistency
during the Series that is rarely seen
in sports, especially one as demand

Again Td like to congratulate
Don for a great effort, the skate-
board industry for having the vision
and putting up the bucks, and last
but not least, the skaters who put it
all on the line on every run and
advanced skateboarding one
step closer to the major recognition
that it deserves

ever-present nice kid smile. DP
was stoked with his take for the
Series. He is in the process of
acquiring a full array of musical
instruments and equipment plus
handing over his monthly payment

belonged to Elguera, who col-
lected $1500 for first overall and
the title of Series Champion.

News Flash
December 18, 1980 John Hutson
of Santa Cruz, CA set a new world
speed record for skateboarding.
Performing for the cameras of
ABC's "That's Incredible," the Hut
reached 56.8 miles per hour in
Palos Verdes, CA John tells us the
footage is outrageous, so keep your
eyes focused on your T.V. Guide for
the date in your area, probably to
be aired sometime in January.

Tonite as I write this piece one of
the finest and most outrageous
musicians of the last 20 years was
brutally and maliciously slain That
man was John Lennon There are
no words to describe the great
sense of loss and somow that I and
many of my friends in the skate
and music community are feeling
at this time. He died of several gun
shot wounds almost immediately.
NY. Police rushed him and his wife
Yoko to the Emergency Room of
Roosevelt Hospital, where he was
pronounced dead on arrival
It is with great difficulty that I try
to write a few words about this
extraordinary man I grew up
listening and watching John
Lennon perform, first as a member
of the Beatles, and later as a solo
artist. He was not only a fine musi
cian he was also a fine man, a
very real down-to-earth person
The kind of person you could actu
ally meet on the street or anywhere
else and talk and relate to. He was
a man loved and respected world-
wide. He will be sorely missed by
all John Lennon was 40 years of

Now to the business at hand-
SVT is an up and coming Rock
band featuring Brian Marnell guitar
and vocals Paul Zoulon drums
and Jack Cassady, formerly of
Jefferson Starship and Hot Tuna
on bass. This band is quite a differ
ent thing from what most people
would expect it to be. They have a
raw and extremely hard driving
sound
They've just returned from a very
successful tour of the East coast
and are planning to do another
four quite soon. The name of their
album is simply SVT on 415 Rec
ords. If you can get a hold of it buy
it quick, cause it's damned good
My favorite out on the album is
also their 45, an original written by

also been known to temorize hotel
